The Muse have never disgusted me; in fact, I like many of their songs, but I just heard this one and it really sucks. In its rhythm and vocal approach, it seems to mimic Nine Inch Nails, with music that is updated to what’s trendy in 2012.

Recommending albums... It's not an easy task. There are the early ones, which are pure noise, slowed-down rhythms, guitars buzzing like annoying little bastards at the very edge of irritation, a voice almost calm in a schizoid tranquility, spewing poison. The soundtrack to a senseless massacre seen in slow motion. There's Children Of God, less sharp in the noise and with darker, more decadent atmospheres. There's White Light From The Mouth Of Infinity, which enhances the decay and elevates it to poetry, perhaps the most balanced one to start with. There's Soundtracks For The Blind, a work light years ahead, which as a friend of mine once said: "what's the point of 98% of post-rock when we have this album?". Then there's the folk-acoustic interlude of The Burning World but it doesn't really fit in...

You have understood everything perfectly. The album, I say without reservation, is something too great for us. A starting point for something, perhaps, but definitely an endpoint. For everything. No man, in “rock” music, has ever gone so far.

Come on, you're a bit unfair... I don't think there's a BTS album that goes below a 4 (even a tight one). Maybe it's because I'm a bit of a downer by nature, but I actually like this rather resigned album quite a lot :D
