Okay, I get that the 5s should be used sparingly, but if we don’t give a 5 to this, what do we give it to? Come on.

In my opinion, when one starts to examine a work for the irony it contains (and often it doesn't even have any; it is forcefully sought), it means that it is a work of embarrassing flatness. That said, I have always refused to read the book.

During my trip to Sicily last week, this was my soundtrack. On the outbound flight at dawn (one of the most beautiful experiences of my life, the clouds beneath the plane so dense that they seemed like a solid expanse, the sun just risen, and East Hastings in my ears), walking on the beach always at dawn and Providence playing endlessly, with the wind, in its intensity, matching the crescendo of the piece... I rarely find an absolutely perfect record, and this is one of those. The alternation of quiet and chaotic parts, the crescendos, the explosions that quickly turn into silence, a silence that instead of breaking the tension amplifies it, instilling an unparalleled anxiety in you, the end of the world announced musically in the intro of East Hastings and vocally in the sample at the beginning of Providence, the haunting distorted mantra of the latter... But in the end, every word is wasted, and they know it too. "Where are we going? Where are we going? Where are we going? Where are we going? Where are we going? Where are we going..."

Ridley Scott Prometheus

Just finished watching it. Let’s start with the simple things: taken as it is, it’s a nice film. It has a big problem with the script, which doesn’t explain a damn thing first and doesn’t SAY a damn thing second. It wants to be at the same time the prequel to Alien, giving an explanation about the origin of what appears in that film, and secondly a random sci-fi movie (which actually starts with a pretty good plot, huh). But it fails to achieve either goal: too many holes and too few explanations, as already mentioned, to function as a prequel to Alien, and too little substance (taken away by the desire to be a prequel) to stand alone as a film. It's as if during the writing, Scott kept changing his mind about which direction to take every other minute... And it ends up being, or rather not being, neither fish nor fowl. However, as pure entertainment, it’s not bad at all.

They just aired it again on TV, and I still think the same: a masterpiece of trash. The most frantic scenes make me laugh like almost nothing else (the escape from the city, come on, it's a [shitty] cinematic classic!), so I’m giving it a 5 again. Even if in this genre, a 1 and a 5 hold the same value. If all ignorant films were like this...

I've read all the comments in the whole discussion and I already don’t remember anything. One way or another, I was talking about similar things with a friend of mine a few weeks ago; just because I’m a rough, ignorant listener who follows a ritual of "listen > like, listen again/dislike, won’t listen again," while she is just finishing her studies at the conservatory and can dismantle every one of my beliefs in less than a second (without claiming superiority or wisdom, but that's beside the point). Because fundamentally, when she talks about music, she is always, objectively right. But the difference between me and her is small, tiny, microscopic: I don’t care at all about objective correctness. I've already said it, I’m ignorant and I’m fine with that... When I listen to something, anything, I don’t want to end up dissecting the track/song/opera into technical facets. I let myself be carried away by it. And maybe it’s better not to know anything but to believe in something, than to know it by heart but stop there. In any case, I have no idea what I’m saying.

I could say "only bimbiminkia always give a 5 to the record," just because 'Led Zeppelin' is written on the cover. That said, double 1 for social unrest, but I haven't read the review and I haven't listened to the album since 2007.

Instead, listening on YouTube reveals if something is worth it. You may not grasp every nuance, but you can feel the structure, the heart of the compositions. That is the substance; the rest is form. And if the substance is missing (which can also be understood on the tube), the form is of no use to me. If the substance is there, I move on to savor the form that will further enrich everything.

Just for masochistic spirit, I went to listen to the single "Sunday" and... I like it. It awakens the pop-queer soul within me. Besides the fact that it reminds me a bit of the "darker" and flashier Patrick Wolf. Anyway, I won’t listen to anything else to avoid ruining this song.
