Of course you could have mentioned McCarthy, at least once. And if you had read the book, you would have understood that the true protagonist of the scene (not necessarily of the plot) is the sheriff, not Llewelyn Moss. Or at least, in the book, it’s much more evident (especially once you get to the monologue in the last pages); not to mention the various pages that outline his thoughts, experienced in the first person. I only saw the film twice three years ago, but from what I remember, the Coens were faithful to the end, to the point that even the dialogues are identical to those in the book. I give the book a vote, however, as for the film as I said I saw it three years ago so I wouldn’t remember how to judge it.
