Out of curiosity, I listened to three songs (or rather, two; I’m currently listening to the third): what a flatness! I can’t see any linearity even if I paid for it, but that’s not the problem; it feels like this “let’s do something weird” was planned on purpose. For example, Awake (exhausting, to boot): what does the central section have to do with anything? It’s even irritating… Honestly, it seems like they said, “let’s put this here, then further along we’ll add this other thing, and we’ll throw this in too so it feels more experimental.” The rest feels like the same flat prog metal you hear all the time, with forced quiet/loud dynamics and sections stitched together just because otherwise they wouldn’t be particular enough. In the realm of non-canonical heavy music, a year prior Through Silver In Blood came out, which has 80 more pounds of balls. But hey, maybe I don’t understand a damn thing, but it honestly seems like trivial stuff hastily put together but sterilely.

I don't know, I found the first one boring too... I've never understood all the hype around it.
