I care about you, and this is among my favorites. I have the album but haven't listened to it yet; I have huge expectations nonetheless, as I devoured the previous one and he’s really great. Still, I would love to see him live in one of those little venues no bigger than my bedroom, the smoky and boozy types, where the artist plays next to a table with an 18-year-old aged scotch from which he sips every 5 minutes.

I haven't heard it yet, but if you say it's "sort of boring" I'm actually quite hopeful: for two years I thought the same about Over The Under, a colossal drag after three songs if not two, and now I love it viscerally. Maybe this boring thing is and will remain boring, but that's how it goes...
