I wasn't referring to spirituality and mysticism (I didn't write that) but to a musical journey. Coleman wanted to play free (he even wrote it on the record for some deaf person, probably) the difference lies in the musical project that is completely lacking in Coleman.

I don't agree with this consideration; personally, I see Coltrane's Ascension as the culmination of a musical journey that has developed over time, as opposed to this free jazz where playing free becomes the end rather than the means.
