This is a strange album. There’s a lot of literature (Melville above all, but also Cèline, Conrad), many styles (ranging from playful divertissement to recitative to ballads), so much, so much music. This is to say that it’s an album to digest that requires its time and its listens: it doesn’t have, nor do I think it wants to have, the immediacy of a simple album of songs; rather, it's almost a grand spectacle in the dark, an evocation. You have to follow the thread of the narrative, let it unfold, and then gradually everything adds up. Of course, there are some missteps; not everything excels at the same level, but the great pieces are not lacking (Polpo d'amor, Billy Budd, Fuochi Fatui, Job, Aedo, etc.), and the weaker ones gain meaning in an overall view of the album. I believe that, more than ever for this album, in Capossela's production, the visual aspect and the staging of these songs are fundamental. I wouldn’t be surprised if, as has become tradition, a live album/DVD comes out soon. And anyway, we are miles ahead of "Da Solo" here. The review is pitiful, and I would say a 4.5 for the album seems fair, for now.

Vivis! The review is excellent as always, but if you tell me they resemble Editors and Arctic Monkeys, I’ll pass...

Not a bad review. I've never listened to them, except for a few songs on YouTube. I saw that another one just came out, how is that one?

Good job! I've had my eye on it for a while... Even though I wasn't exactly blown away by Avey Tare's, to be honest.
