Anyway, as I see it, musically speaking, it's true that Mayhem are fundamental to the scene, but bands like Darkthrone and Emperor are even more so. Mayhem always stayed anchored to a very raw thrash, while the other two groups I mentioned contributed more to the birth of the Norwegian sound... okay, I've finished stating the obvious :D

Damn, if you think a story made of suicides and murders is funny, it means you have a well-developed sense of dark humor... however, I do believe that nearly twenty years later, the mahyem should be analyzed differently, setting aside the aura of legend that has always surrounded them, for better or for worse...
