Eric Clapton Me And Mr. Johnson

It's an impeccable reasoning, and the fact that you, although not a fan of "classic" blues as you stated above, appreciate it only confirms what I (and not just me) think, namely that in this album Eric pays tribute to the good Johnson to the extent that he makes the creations of the legendary bluesman more accessible! Do you agree?

witty jargon, you're not wrong at all to think about it because here the lids have come off... anyway I would say that if we want we could get back to the music instead of continuing this conversation that leads nowhere! come on, it’s a nice record...

The cover is beautiful, the right rating in my opinion would be a generous 3.5!

and in this we are partially discordant, because as I say in the second comment, Powerage, to my ears, has nothing to envy from its predecessors, while Highway, which does in some way deviate from previous releases (in my opinion due to the different production), could actually be defined as the masterpiece of the Australian band! My favorite, however, I believe is still Dirty Deeds, for its more bluesy approach compared to the others!

and this is probably because, as you say, Johnson preached a rather raw blues, while Slowhand is a precision freak, which definitely takes away a bit of the atmosphere from the work!

I also think the album is too perfect, I love Clapton and I find this a good homage to the figure who surely inspired him more than the others. However, I don't agree when you say that this is pure blues; it's definitely blues, no doubt about it, but in my opinion, it’s a blues interpreted with an almost pop flair, almost in contrast to the Johnsonian work! It remains an extraordinary tribute, but at certain points, I have the feeling that the good Eric hasn't managed to express himself at his best in these performances!

I don't agree, though, that after this album AC/DC won't reach high levels again; in fact, I find Powerage an extraordinary album, possibly even better than this one. As you say, there will come the successes in terms of sales with "Highway..." and "Back...", but for me, the kangaroos remain in the game big time until For Those About to Rock! Personally, though, AC/DC with Scott are a whole different world and overshadow the later albums, even those of Back in Black!

Very meticulous and pleasant review, perhaps a bit too long, and you could have frankly cut some parts that were excessive... Having said that, you included a couple of anecdotes that I knew but are always nice to brush off! 4.5

I had the chance to find the album and I found it very good, let's say a solid 3.5.

You really piqued my curiosity, try to get it back!
