Tom Waits Small Change
Voto:
yes, without a doubt one of the best by waits and also my favorite of all! I've read more than once comments stating that tom's most nocturnal work is blue valentines, but for me it is this one without a shadow of a doubt! this and the subsequent foreign affairs (less successful) are a "branch office" of the first phase of our artist's career, which becomes less crooner and subsequently (with blue valentines and heartattack) takes a more distinctly blues turn.

very beautiful but also the most extreme among my Waits listens, which have so far been chronologically limited to this album! really creative in many solutions, for me it's a very good if not (almost) excellent album... but is this fundamentally more of a soundtrack than a proper album?

But darn it, just two comments for this nice review!! I’ve never heard of him, but he definitely promises well. I'm trying to check on the mule now...
J.J. Cale Roll On

truly beautiful and even very varied album, unlike jj cale's usual two strummed chords! I found it on sale and bought it just this morning, but I still enjoyed it in various ways over these past months...
Rod Stewart Atlantic Crossing

I don't agree with the judgment of Rod's work as the most complete.

The review is very, very nice, although I personally find the album good but not great, let's say a sort of 3.5!

I'm now reading your response, Davide. On one hand, I understand your reasoning as a fan, but there is indeed a contradiction between what you write and the score you give. However, that's not the reason why I'm not thrilled with your review; everyone is entitled to their judgments, no doubt (and honestly, giving BB King a 5 is anything but sacrilege). In my opinion, it should be a 3 because the whole review is a continuous track by track. Sometimes that's fine, it's true, but it's also true that you say more or less the same things for all the songs—not because of you, but because doing a track by track for an album with 15 songs is challenging and heavy for the reader. Anyway, I downloaded the album and listened to it after reading your review, and indeed, it's not great—a decent 3 in my opinion. I didn't feel the thrill that other listens from him gave me. The orchestrations in some songs are poorly executed too!
Rob Zombie Hellbilly Deluxe 2
Voto:
very good. I've listened to Rob's excellent The Sinister Urge and the decent Educated Horses, which marked a more hard rock approach! Along with one or two albums by White Zombie whose titles I can't recall right now. I don't think I'll listen to this episode, but you impressed me positively, well done!

But then why do you give it a 5? My rating for the review would be a 3, but I won’t post it to avoid bringing down the average.
