Big Country Steeltown
Voto:
Album that I rate with a solid 3.5. The review is nice and well-written. This record is good, but I prefer the album "The Crossing"; for me, it’s better than "Steeltown", which remains a nice album nonetheless.

Great album, decent review!

On CDUNIVERSE it's already available for pre-order; it should be released in two editions. On the mellencamp website, it states that there will be 72 tracks and 4 CDs, but nothing is mentioned about the songs included!

A review that captures the essence. Playback is an excellent Box set that I bought a few years ago, packed with rarities and outtakes; it should be acquired just to hear the sole "Big Boss Man." I also have the DVD with the clips!

Hi CURRAHEE72, in October a super box titled: On Rural Route 7609 will be released. It should contain 72 pieces, do you have any information about the content (unreleased or otherwise)? Did you get Life, Death, Live and Freedom Ep (live)? Keep it up, I’m always reading you!
John Cougar Mellencamp American Fool

Four-star album, the remastered version gives new justice to the record, as it has a beautiful, bright, and crystal-clear sound. In the new version, there’s also a great unreleased track that inexplicably didn’t make it onto the album, namely the titular "American Fool." A tip: buy the new version; the old one on CD is really redundant, you can hear the good old vinyl much better. In fact, this album has aged well; perhaps the sound is a bit overloaded, but one wouldn’t say that it all feels excessive. In reality, there are other rock albums from that period that have terrible productions, but this one certainly does not!

This is an album I've listened to several times, I actually like it, in fact I have the new edition with the bonus. You're right to say it's lesser, it has traits of being a sparse and direct album. 4 stars still seem a bit too much to me! By the way, are you also reviewing Nothing Matters... A Biography, Cougar? I have practically everything by Mellencamp!

Larrok: what do you mean by saying that Springsteen is a substitute for Young? I listen to Young and Springsteen. As a performer, Young is excellent; just look at Live Weld to get it! I'll tell you more, both give me feelings, emotions, and make me reflect in different ways. Because let's face it, these are not just simple rock artists, they are true singer-songwriters! Do you remember the lyrics of Factory or The River?

I’ve seen Springsteen 4 times, even this year in Rome. The concert was a lot of fun and really emotional. Comparisons are pointless; Bruce is definitely an excellent performer, a great of USA rock. Not recognizing this means being biased. Let’s try to be more rational in our discussions. The comparison with Cave is out of place; in reality, it would also be inappropriate to compare him with Mellencamp or Petty. I don’t see the point in comparing sacred monsters of rock? Traumacronico: do you really not appreciate an album like The River?

Review that I fully agree with, it is truly excellent, almost perfect. Perhaps you could have talked a bit more about the great percussion work done by Kenny Aronoff!
