Various Artists Death is Just The Beginning Vol. 6

Well, the rating for the review just won’t settle, anyway it’s 5. As for the rest, I agree: Power Metal à la Helloween/Stratovarius/Hammerfall is not only the death of music, but also of human civilization. In this sense, the title of the collection takes on a completely new meaning!

The "ugly diva"? Seriously, did they really call Spacek that? And to think I practically fell in love with her at first sight! They should get themselves a pair of glasses: Sissy Spacek was stunning! The film is something special, and John Travolta is great in his cinematic debut, in a role that couldn't be more of a jerk! XDD

Nice record, definitely very fresh.
J. J. Abrams Il risveglio della Forza
Voto:
Personally, I enjoyed the film, but there is one thing that I just can't wrap my head around: a detail of the plot that I find inconsistent with the rest of the saga. Anakin and Luke took years to master the Force, while the girl Rey (who I actually liked as a character) suddenly wakes up one morning and kicks the butt of a Marilyn Manson lookalike, who just two minutes earlier had been working miracles with the power of thought... I just can’t understand the speed (or perhaps the rush) with which Abrams granted the protagonist the ability to handle the Force at such levels... Maybe having her go through a training arc would have been more consistent with the saga’s past and certainly more realistic. In my opinion, the director made one of those typical "American" exaggerations here; I can't find any other explanation.
Il Rovescio Della Medaglia Io Come Io

Hello Battlegods! Long time no see, my God, you've been diving into the most varied genres lately! It's always a pleasure to read your reviews, in any case! Huge shoutout to Rovescio Della Medaglia, this album marks a great maturation for the band, but personally, I prefer their first work, which better suits my musical tastes..! "Io come io" remains a fantastic piece of work... By the way, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it true that Richard Benson was part of Rovescio Della Medaglia, right before their breakup, when he was briefly involved as a singer after the recording of "Contaminazione"?
Robert W. Chambers Il Re in giallo e altri racconti

I remember reading it many years ago (in English, by the way: I hadn’t found any Italian edition at the time) and if my memory serves me right, it seems to me that the setting of the last two or three stories in the book was quite realistic, which left me a little puzzled since I was completely thrilled by the first four crazy, wonderful pieces that you also mention and the decadent atmospheres of the others. In any case, I recall it as a good book: perhaps I should pick it up again and give another chance to the more ā€œrealisticā€ pieces as well.
Uriah Heep Abominog

Some time ago, I also had an obsession with these distinguished gentlemen: I actually remember that it became a real obsession for me...! Of course, the period with David Byron remains something unforgettable (although "Firefly" with the immense John Lawton also thrilled me), but despite the stylistic distance from those glorious albums, "Abominog" remains one of my favorite episodes in the discography of Uriah Heep: it is the result of a perfect, unique alchemy, and despite Mick Box's evident intention to create an album that would easily climb the charts, it has always conveyed great emotions to me.
Steve Sylvester Mad Messiah
Voto:
Great album, I personally prefer it to "Free Man", which still contains nice musical moments. I don’t think it detracts from the album that there are no particularly long tracks; after all, that’s part of Silvestri’s spirit too... "Sons Of War" is wonderful and the rest is no less impressive. The cover of "The Shape Of Things To Come" refers, in its carefree aggression, not so much to the original version, but to the beautiful cover made by the legendary Slade in the '70s, among Silvestri’s youth idols, while "Ancient Dreams" is a song I recommend everyone to listen to...! Sure, we’re not facing an epoch-making album, but for those who love the early Death SS, and especially Paul Chain, this release is absolutely unmissable..!
