I fell madly in love with "Souvenirs d'un Autre Monde," which I believe is a rare and wonderful gem. Here, the good Stéphane Paut has revived the unsettling and depressing splendor of early black metal, forming a pleasant blend with the sinuous visions and delicate arpeggios of shoegaze. Compared to the aforementioned "Souvenirs," the atmosphere here is darker and more bitter, navigating extremely painful shores that are at times incomprehensible. A bit like the bleak and delicate art of Alcest, ruthless and sublime...
