"goodbye & hello" only a pass? Oh well... "Starsailor" is fantastic; my favorite of Buckley after "Lorca". speaking of rankings, mine is this: 1 - Lorca (9.5) 2 - Starsailor (9) 3 - Happy Sad (8.5) 5 - Goodbye & Hello (8) 6 - Blue Afternoon (8), the others are all quite mediocre.

@there. since there isn't much choice, it happens that one might even vote for Veltroni. at least he's a normal person; not a criminal like his political opponent...

You can criticize the PD all you want (I’m the first to do so), but please, I beg you, don’t say that Berlusconi is better. A guy who MAKES LAWS FOR HIMSELF, TELLS ITALIANS NOT TO PAY TAXES, AND HAS AS HIS RIGHT-HAND MAN THAT MAFIA MEMBER DELL’UTRI WHO HE TREATS LIKE A HERO IN A NORMAL COUNTRY (which Italy is not) WOULD BE KICKED OUT INSTANTLY!!!!

fantastic review; just like I like them, right among my favorites... as for Berlusconi, he lives in aItaly of his own; aItaly where there is no precariousness, where there is no public debt, where there are no problems. I will have to vote for Veltroni (who, although I am also left-leaning, hasn’t convinced me at all) to keep him from being in power. anyway, Berlusconi is a genius; he has the ability to say absolutely absurd things (when they're not unconstitutional) and then deny everything as if nothing happened.

@Longliverock. You still don't understand. I tell you about all this discussion on judgment parameters and you respond that it's not just "Blonde on Blonde" by Bob Dylan that has 5 stars. As I already told you, since I give 5 stars only to 25/30 rock albums (meaning only to those that can at least be compared to the great classic masterpieces), automatically the rating of all other albums decreases. So I give 4 stars even to this great album "Canzone a Manovella" and to any other Italian album (sorry if I don't consider any Italian album among the top 30 albums of all time). Regarding "there are very few interesting good Italian albums," I stand by that, it's been years since I've heard a good Italian album; a terrifying mediocrity. If you meant to mention De André, Battisti, De Gregori (Cccp, Area, Banco del Mutuo Soccorso, Zu, Uzeda that you didn't mention), they are great, thanks, but I already knew that.

It's not that I don't like the ones you mentioned; in fact, I think we don't understand each other because we're using two different scales for evaluation. For example, if in Bob Dylan's discography there are 10 albums that you rate 5 stars, it's obvious that there are many Italian albums that deserve 5 stars as well; in my opinion, there is only one (Blonde on Blonde) in Dylan's discography that deserves 5 stars and therefore, since I believe that no Italian album comes close to "Blonde on Blonde", no Italian album deserves 5 stars. Maybe "Blonde on Blonde" and those Italian albums appeal to both you and me equally, but I have simply used a different criterion for judgment. For me, the rock albums that truly deserve 5 stars are 25 at most, maybe 30. If for you, on the other hand, there are 25/30 5-star albums released each year, it's natural that there are dozens of Italian albums that merit such a rating. Remember that the value of the rating given to an album is not absolute, but in relation to what you've given to others.

I haven't heard this concert, but I love Mingus! (Shall we talk about Black Saint And The Sinner Lady? Absolutely spine-tingling...)

No. There are very few interesting Italian albums, and therefore even a 4-star album stands out as one of the best ever; if a work of this artistic value had been released abroad, it would certainly be an excellent album, distinctly above average, but it probably wouldn't even make it into the top 500 of all time. I don't even know if there's an Italian album that deserves 5 stars.
