Frank Zappa Apostrophe (')
Voto:
I instead agree with Poletti, Frank Zappa is perhaps the greatest musical genius of the 20th century, but giving at least 4 out of 5 to any of his albums just because "it's Zappa" is wrong. Zappa's creative madness led him to produce an extraordinary number of records, and it makes no sense to shout masterpiece with every one, because very few of his albums are masterpieces (we're only In it for money, absolutely free, uncle meat and maybe even burnt weeny sandwich). He also made a significant number of very good albums (I won't list them all) that confirm the multifaceted genius that Zappa was and how much he had to say, but it’s important to acknowledge the times when he missed the mark (and there are quite a few). Sometimes it almost seems to me that the idea that Zappa's "creative genius" cannot be tied to just a few albums, but to his entire rich discography, is like an excuse to shout masterpiece even for albums that are objectively unsuccessful... who knows...
