Granted that technique is so important as to determine the fate of an album, the Red Hot Chili Peppers have learned to play a long time ago... in this album, perhaps saying they knew how to play is a bit risky... it's up to you to decide whether to reward technique (John Frusciante) or originality (Slovak). P.S. I've been told that Slovak wasn't in this album, but it doesn't really change much; surely the guitarist of that time was more original than Frusciante.

@Battlegods. I have an idea of good music "that used to exist" and it's much clearer than yours (which is objectively biased, since you only listen to metal, hard rock at most, and don't consider other genres).
@Rip_Van_Winkle. I don't think I'm the first one who doesn't consider the first two EPs by CCCP as albums. Anyway, I personally don't mind "Epica Etnica" at all; maybe we misunderstood each other. On a scale from 0 to 10, I would give it, let's say, a 7. But for me, a masterpiece is something more, that's all...

"Stadium Arcadium" is something unbearable. It's a bunch of stupid sappy ballads that never dare to exceed three minutes, only reaffirming their crisis. As usual, the Red Hot Chili Peppers are not satisfied; they want to go big, they want to further annoy us by even doing a double... I swear, I can’t handle more than three of those hellish songs at a time, it's obscene. After "Californication," it's the worst of their career.

Well, to me it seems that Red Hot Chili Peppers have never reached a similar level... this and the following album are among the best they’ve ever done... then unfortunately Frusciante arrived, definitely inferior to Slovak (not technically), and the band suffered quite a bit... finally, after "Blood Sugar Sex Magic" (the last decent album, anyway overrated, they made), the band started producing a string of useless albums, from "One Hot Minute" to "By The Way", from "Californication" to "Stadium Arcadium", which has definitively condemned them...
