BUT WHY, WHY SHOULD WE NOT COMPARE ARTISTS WHO MAKE DIFFERENT GENRES? No one has ever given me a satisfying answer. All of you who say this, it seems absurd to me! I think it's just a way to hide the mediocrity of some albums. Battisti is a thousand years ahead of Iron Maiden because Iron Maiden built an entire career on a single idea (from Black Sabbath, among others) making songs and albums that were one a copy of the other. Battisti revolutionized the concept of singing in Italy, wrote some of the milestones of melodic music of all time (Emozioni, La Collina dei Ciliegi, Giardini di Marzo, Con il Nastro Rosa, il Nosto Caro Angelo, Pensieri e Parole), and evolved his style until he reached albums completely different from the early ones; and excuse me if that's not enough.

Enbar77, I think this speech of yours is just a way to hide the mediocrity of your judgments. I too have found myself giving the same rating to albums that I consider to have different artistic value (for example, I gave 5 stars to both Trout Mask Replica by Beefheart and Exile On Main Street by the Rolling Stones, and yet I think Mask Replica is better than Exile). It’s inevitable: there are millions of albums, but there are only 5 ratings. That doesn’t change the fact that "The Doors" cannot have the same rating as "Condivisioni (disc 1)"!

Battiato is one of the most annoying and useless artists in the history of music; it's hard to find equals. Really, even with the groups I dislike the most (Beatles, Nirvana, U2, Maiden), I acknowledge them a minimum of artistic value, but with Battiato, nothing. His music is featherlight disguised as intellectual music. I haven't heard the work in question...
