And then sorry, I get stubborn like a little child... shouldn't you relate to the period to judge whether something is lacking in originality? AIC, like Nirvana, were among the first to do that kind of stuff, obviously influenced by everything they've listened to, but precisely because they were among the first to give rise to certain sounds, can't they be defined in a certain sense as Original? Now, let's put aside the usual arguments about Melvins and the like who started before them; my example is very clear for those who claim AIC are not original. I'm not buying it ;)

I don't share your notion of "Originality." From the way you speak, it seems that to be original one must necessarily play the congas on their heads. Anyway, the fact that you don't like Nirvana is enough for me. De gustibus, brother, in any case... I'll try to respect you ;)

...here they are making too big and unproductive speeches. The only solution is to accept others' tastes with style and class... .... ....ah, the Bushes give me hives.

alex, with your point of view ("when have they ever played a jazz-blues piece with a dobro, using the slide"), then even Cobain wasn't original at all. ...Shall we light it up?

"Melodically, the STP are superior." Mass, but on what basis can such claims be made? It's an impossible discussion to have, precisely because the two bands did quite different things even though they were both wrapped up in the box labeled Grunge. AIC, as dark as you want, decadent, sometimes almost heavy (I loved them) but damn melodic. STP, decent, nice songs, some obscene, banal... I listened to both bands (15 years ago) but only the AIC left something inside me. When I pick up the guitar and go into nostalgia, I don't start strumming Plush, but at most Nutshell or Got Me Wrong ;) DE GUSTIBUS, okay, but let's not bring "melody" into it.

Technically, the STP were superior to A.I.C??? Well... I was a huge fan of the latter, but unfortunately I only saw the STP live (a small concert).
Technically and in terms of taste, drummers like Sean Kinney (AIC) are hard to find even today. The STP drummer, in comparison, was just selling cookware. Let's not even talk about Staley vs Weiland, that would be laughable. Cantrell was never a phenomenon (technically) but his taste was leaps above that of the Pilots' guitarist (who did create some good stuff, but nothing transcendent).
In the end, we are all here sharing personal opinions; it’s hard to come to a conclusion, but that’s the beauty of debates.
