Well, I'm taking a risk, but in no particular order: SIBERIA (diaframma) - Affinità (cccp) - Desaparecido (litfiba) - Tutti morimmo a stento (de andrè) - da qui (massimo volume). Obviously, these are the first five that came to my mind, but there are certainly many beautiful and essential albums…

yes I know, I didn’t say much, both because of my inability and because I was a bit tired, and because I wanted to convey more the importance of Battisti, which many snob just because he is popular, than to review the album, which could have been any from his career, but I chose this one just because it’s more popular. my favorite is MAYBE "una giornata uggiosa"

I know they are considered, even by someone as great as MASSIMO ZAMBONE (cccp csi), but for me, they're just cute, a 3. Preferences are preferences. But they aren't essential.

In ITALY, especially, the Marlene have been incredibly important and have made epic albums (the first ones), while the After have contributed less, though Agnelli played a significant role in the birth of the new Italian rock. The Verdena have not been fundamental (also because they were born when there wasn't a need for them).

Are we joking?
Do we really want to compare the historical after with the mundane Verdena?

@OleEinar: maybe it's all because prog isn't exactly my favorite genre, but I can tell you, for example, that I was fascinated by Le Orme and I really appreciate Il Banco... then surely all the bands you've mentioned are very talented technically, but they didn't grab me.

I am always a bit skeptical about the many Italian prog groups that all seem similar and very instrumental to me. I don’t know these, but aside from the big bands (pfm, banco, area, orme, etc.), many have disappointed me.
