Bonny, I understand your point of view. You probably will never like prog, but I would encourage you to listen to something beyond Yes and Genesis... prog is vast and there are many VERY different things within it... and there are also true, heartfelt, inspired, genuine works... by the way, I'm not thrilled at all to hear Emerson imitating Bach ;) ;)

Supersoul, nothing to say about Lake in "I Talk To The Wind" (as in the whole album, after all)... Di Giacomo is completely different, I don't think they can be compared...

Well, I would ditch the ELP and keep Banco... "Canto Nomade..." is beautiful.

Oh my God, Lake's voice is the best thing about ELP ;) ;) Of course, Di Giacomo is more expressive... I love his singing style... Bjork, I see we have very similar tastes... Long live VDGG! ;)

The cover is the only thing in which "Fragile" is superior to "Close" ;) There's a lot of good stuff from Yes even later on, maybe more diluted (The Gates of Delirium? Awaken?)... As for Banco, who knows... I know that "Tarkus" (the suite) kind of annoys me a bit (with all due respect to Emerson) while I often listen to "Il Giardino del mago" with pleasure...

Great review, well written. Although for me "Close To The Edge" remains clearly superior to this. The 5 short tracks given to the individual members break the harmony of the album a bit and in the end are little more than fillers (except for Howe's, obviously). De gustibus. I understand your judgment on prog, even though it's debatable. In any case, it's absurd to say that prog is gaudy and lacks substance. At least in its best moments, it isn't. The Yes are one thing, but... the King Crimson are gaudy??? Where?? Are you sure??
