Well, Dave, I don't know if this one or the one about the caravans is better ;) Two great reviews for two stellar albums!

Well, the mere fact that someone thought to compare them to Soft Machine speaks in their favor ;) I'll add Perigeo to the (long) list of albums to listen to. I have MSN, for the Caravan live it wouldn't be a bad idea if I can't get it, thanks! Not right now though, I'm leaving for Padua... exams are approaching, unfortunately :-(

Yes, underrated in the sense of being little known. I don’t know if I'll enjoy Henry Cow, but I'll definitely try to listen to them. The self-titled album by Picchio dal Pozzo is nice, very surreal with its nonsensical lyrics. As for Perigeo, I’ve never listened to them yet. If I'm not mistaken, they are more jazzy (but I might be wrong).

Yes, I will try to make amends in another way too ;) I've only heard the name Henry Cow mentioned, I need to listen to something. Out of the box in what sense? Like Gong or something completely different? In the Canterbury scene, I also like the Egg (I've only heard The Polite Force) and I find Space Shanty by Khan splendid and very underrated.

he he!!! The cover, the cover!!! Can you believe it, I can't even hold a musical instrument;) ;) Unfortunately, I’m quite (very) ignorant when it comes to music!

thank you, arnold! I'll try to get everything, even though the live stuff won't be easy to find, I imagine. Sinclair’s voice will be what it will be, but it makes me feel good ;) bye!

@ajeje, I have the first of the Hatfield and the North and it's definitely a great album as well; I find it somewhat a bridge between the dreamy atmospheres of Caravan and the jazz-rock experiments typical of the other "side" of the Canterbury "school" (like Matching Mole or even the Soft Machine). I will also get the second one; I imagine it's more or less at the same level.

The other day a friend of mine, completely unfamiliar with progressive music, was captivated by the album cover and asked to borrow it. I didn't have high hopes, but instead, she told me she was impressed by the fact that while listening to the 23 minutes of Nine Feet Underground, you don’t even notice that time is passing! She would give it a 5 too :-) Bye!

<<How was it possible that they created such a masterpiece, capable of transporting us so far from reality, to discover the hidden world where each of us has always wanted to live? It's their enchanting cadence that makes even a 23-minute piece feel incredibly brief, keeping us on the edge of our seats to avoid missing a single note of trumpet, mellotron, guitar, or bass, whatever it may be.>> <<It must be acknowledged that Caravan possesses the rare ability to make melodic what is inherently complex or strictly technical, although never for its own sake.>> I vote for you because everything is just perfect. Here you go.
