Wonderful album. Beautiful and passionate review, but I don't "forgive" you for those "two modest albums"; Mirage is a 5 just like this one. The masterpiece of progressive seems a bit exaggerated to me anyway. Bye.

A truly magnificent hard-prog-dark masterpiece. I don't know if they're a step above, but in my opinion, the comparison with Sabbath is fitting: terrifying riffs, dark-gothic atmospheres... what's different is a more "progressive" attitude and an extra Hammond organ;) In any case, a must-listen.

First prog-metal album seems a bit exaggerated to me; I would simply call it hard-prog with dark undertones. It's still a fantastic record, especially since it's from 1970... I will also listen to the previous one.

But come on, the singer's voice is unique but fits well in the context. In my opinion, it should be counted among the best works of Italian prog; the opening suite is truly stunning. The next album is also great (with even more explicit lyrics), but overall I prefer this one.
