By the way, I'm now horrified to see that there's no review of "Going Blank Again" in the legendary database! Vivis, could you do us a little favor? :)

The Editors have little to do (thankfully) with Chapel Club in my opinion. As for the Arctic Monkeys, I'm glad I've never listened to them, so I wouldn't know. @sfascia, I agree with Vivis, more "Going Blank Again" than "Nowhere" in Chapel Club. I don’t know Crocodiles, but if you say so, I should definitely give them a listen! @pretazzo, just think that Slowdive are my favorite band of all time, amen. I've never found such beauty in any other band :)

I was hoping someone would write a couple of lines about it, and you did it excellently, saying everything necessary with a few well-chosen words. I haven't had the chance to listen to the album itself yet, but I know more or less all the tracks, and I've seen them live twice, the last time just a few weeks ago. I find them delightful in their hyper-derivative nature. Maybe it's because when I hear Slowdive, Ride, and similar bands, I get all emotional over nothing, but this wave of new shoegaze groups (A Place to Bury Strangers, Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Ringo Deathstarr, Tamaryn) is giving me a lot of satisfaction. I think the rating for the album would be close to 4, but I'll wait to listen to it seriously before making any final judgments. In the meantime, here’s a 5 for you, and thanks for talking about it.

You can't be saying that the Sabotage lions didn't deserve the trip? :)

Beautiful review. I know very little about him from his records, but I happened to see him live last summer, and it was an unexpected show. He was great and incredibly humble; after midnight (the curfew for outdoor music in Padua), he went down among the (few) people to play with the amplifiers off and chat and joke around for another half hour. And he was accompanied by an awesome band. Truly a great character.

I don't know anything about Colour pre Ewige (aside from Periscope, which officially came out after Ewige), I really should catch up considering how much I love this band and the giant good-natured Stefan with bare feet. I curse without problems and say that they are absolutely my favorites of all stoner and its surroundings, including Kyuss. Let's hope the new album is good. By the way, Bartle, tell the story about the new one, it's quite funny :)

But, welcome back! Sorry about the dark period, I hope it's behind you now. The linked piece is great.

I recently appreciated them live as well; I've never listened to them on record, so I can imagine they might be boring, indeed. Really well-written review.

Spectacular review! The previous one, which I also discovered thanks to you, I had appreciated. So I'm off to search.
