I agree with you that he's a pop artist; it was clear from the first album... I don't know, maybe it's because I'm very attached to "Requiem," it was a bit like the soundtrack of my 17 years... :) I was hoping for an album in that style, but I knew it wouldn't be like that... after all, they have always evolved with each album, it was inevitable that they would reach an album like "Wow."

"Requiem" was a much more heartfelt album, in my opinion. And it was also their most complete record; all of their influences were present and none overshadowed the others. There were ballads, psychedelic tracks, grunge outbursts, all great pieces. On "Wow," everything feels flat, without any bite... the songs are nice enough, but releasing two albums full of pop songs feels exhausting to me. And come on, a masterpiece like "Non prendere l'acme, Eugenio" devours a pretty good track like "Sorriso in spiaggia" for breakfast...

The funny thing is that when "Requiem" came out, everyone was downvoting it with 1s and 2s as if it were raining, labeling them as a "pseudo-alternative boy band" or something like that. Now that this album has been released, which is, at best, worth a tenth of that immense record, they're giving it 4s and 5s as if they were falling from the sky. Mysteries of Debaser. The new songs, however, sound much better live.

No no no, this album is a complete mess, another piece in the progressive decline of Metallica. The arrangements are horrible and manage to ruin and weaken masterpieces like "Battery" and "Master of Puppets". Maybe it could have been something great, but they totally messed it up...
