solidarity with Lux, even if I don't agree at all with what he said about the record

great album and great review

It makes me laugh how one of the Italian groups that keeps reinventing itself is criticized, and now has its own style despite the countless inspirations from foreign rock (listen to Requiem without prejudice, to believe it...). The review is utterly pitiful; it doesn't describe anything and tries to push its own agenda (of hatred towards Verdena), focusing on those who know nothing about them.

It's sad to see how they've changed, especially with the last album... By the way, I think they've taken on a bit too much of that intellectual air at all costs and have really declined... Evolution is fine, but at least it should make sense (like Afterhours, who are still a very respectable band), not like this... I hope they regain their sanity (I hope that's the right expression :P ) By the way, Poeti is a semi-plagiarism of "Paranoid Android," am I the only one who noticed?

I believe it's a high-level album crafted down to the tiniest detail, which only falls a bit in "dove si va da qui" and somewhat in "è dura essere silvan." Anyway, regarding the previous discussion, I agree about Lux; I was the one who brought Litfiba into the mix :D By the way, "Desaparecido" is very derivative, but in my opinion, it's a masterpiece nonetheless, especially because the Pelù of the earlier days was deadly, just like Marrocolo, and Renzulli and Aiazzi knew what they were doing.

I think he didn't count the title track.

I was there too in Rome, great concert, even if Prette messed up a few transitions and the tarantella seemed to be done with just one guitar, or at least I couldn't hear the second one.

Look, this is the third thing I'm writing in this discussion, so you can't know how I think; I have a lot of questions, plus I’ve been playing guitar for quite a while (about 7 or 8 years) and before that, I played the drums. I'm not saying this to brag, but to help you understand that I am very passionate about music, and not just about Gigi D'Alessio or whatever, but about MUSIC. So it makes me happy to see you mention Pere Ubu and such, bands that I also listen to, along with Television, for example, and various other stuff. I, too, believe that experimentalism is often not a good thing but is just self-serving. However, when you say that an album is too derivative, it implies that you prefer something that is not derivative and experimental, and therefore you give a negative judgment to the album for being derivative. This is what I understood, and that’s why I talked about experimentalism.

Instead, I think it's surprising, and I've listened to certain things and even much more experimental stuff than the Sonic Youth and so on; one must always immerse oneself in the context. By the way, if Britney Spears showcases a derivative '70s prog album, I would be astonished, the same goes for if Afterhours present an album with more particular and varied arrangements than usual. This is my thought... and then the album deserves attention and is well-made. No grudges and no fake intellectualism ;)

It’s not that if you like Sonic Youth you can’t enjoy this record; moreover, catartic one can get off in front of it even knowing Sonic Youth, just as one can get off in front of Desaparecido by Litfiba while being aware of the preceding new wave, just as one can get off to Hai paura del buio by Afterhours... those are pseudo-intellectual discussions you’re having, in other words, bullshit discussions.
