Björk Vulnicura

Biophilia has faded for me over time, too sparse in sounds, too wrapped up in itself in compositions, but all in all it remains nice and has its beautiful moments. If we also consider that for over three years Biorca hyped it as if it were the best thing on this planet, it got on my nerves for a while. With Vulnicura, however, she made up for it; the influence of those handsome ones, Arca and Haxan Cloak, is very noticeable, and it can only be beneficial. The whole album is beautiful, but Stonemilker, Family, and Black Lake, in my opinion, stand out among her must-haves alongside the usual titles - and it's been about a decade since the little lady released tracks that are truly (ahem) at her level. If this is the case, they should always find someone to make her fall madly in love just to then leave her like a poor thing; after all, she has produced her best work after a breakup (Homogenic) or when she was in heat (Vespertine). Not to take anything away from the others, including Volta.

Beautiful, but my favorite remains the even more pachydermic Midnight Radio, an exhausting two-and-a-half-hour marathon that served as the soundtrack during my countless sleepless nights... Those who only know the latest album (rather tedious) should give this and Black Earth a try.

Very nice, 3.5 for me as well. Strange because I've seen Trash Humpers and Gummo by Korine, both of which I didn't like. Maybe it helped that I saw it in the cinema.

So tomorrow I’ll imitate the late, lamented katharsys and write a few lines praising John Lennon’s assassin. The day after that, I’ll tear apart Perfume Genius because he’s a piece of shit faggot. And the day after that, I’ll detail my university day. And so on. Then, almost certainly, I’ll get banned, eh, but I’ll just make a new account a hundred times like panzzoone/patatrac/etc. and keep flooding the home feed with delusions from an idiot, which will appear above and below more ā€œseriousā€ reviews. At this point, anything would be fine, right? I’m not saying there was some kind of criteria for publication before, but reviews were filtered/organized *at least a little*, and there was always the semi-jacked section of DeCasi, where some odd writings could still find their place. For me, who well, won’t count for shit, this new choice is a big minKiata. I know it’s a trial period, so I hope the great G takes a step back.

This new laissez-faire type policy is a total load of nonsense. It's one thing to make the site more scattered with definitions of artists and works, to allow comments on comments and comments on comments regarding definitions and listens, etc., etc., but we’re really losing it here. Then if the goal is just to get a few more visits (I wonder how, given that the reviews, some of which are grotesque without even a minimum of editing, will slide off the homepage in a day or two) then there's nothing more to say. That said, it still stinks like spiked javelins.

Like Lao. Talking about a movie like this is almost an impossible task: sick, twisted, delirious, visceral—calling it just horror is misleading. Absolutely not for everyone. I had tried to watch it in the Italian version, logically heavily cut and with voiceovers that have nothing to do with the original dialogues. Then I managed to get the correct version. The beautiful thing is that it starts out like any family drama, hints at some unease, and quickly evolves into something inhuman... I think the scene of the birth in the subway is one of the most shocking ever conceived on screen; I almost went to curl up in a corner. The grotesque characters even provoke a nervous chuckle: Heinrich, for instance... "Do you like dogs? It's people like you that caused concentration camps!!" My only critique is that towards the end, it gets excessively twisted, as if the director let the delirium slip out of his hands, becoming incomprehensible even for him. I still don’t understand the backstory of the man with the purple sock. The ending, however, is, uh, explosive. Ah, Adjani is incredible; and at almost 60, she’s still a stunning milf. Saw it last month: I liked it, undoubtedly. The ending left me a bit like that. I should watch it again. Anyway, the sickly and subtly indecipherable atmosphere that develops was one of the strong points, along with the general direction and cinematography. Recommended, but not for everyone.

Well, I wouldn’t say inclassifiable; rather, they seem quite derivative. Guttural and distant voice, muddy guitars, claustrophobia turned up to the max, furious outbursts alternating with melancholic digressions... A sort of sludge with a touch of black and a pinch of post-rock. I really love the sounds, beautifully abrasive, dirty, uncompromising. It's definitely a great debut. And also Italian. Great tip.
