It was supposed to be the concert of the year... And for me, it was. I still consider the latest album a marvel. I didn't really like the review; I found it superficial and thrown together just for the sake of it, beyond the difference in opinions, which is fine. Where did you pull "Ocean" from? There’s only one "gladiator piece," and that’s "Now We Are Free" (if it weren't associated with that mediocre movie, it wouldn't even be snubbed). I mean, how can you expect them to play a "Xavier" or a "Cantara"? They may be classics, but they haven’t performed those since the '90s... The only exception is "The Host Of Seraphim," which, coincidentally, is the one that excited me the least (= I still enjoyed it) precisely because Lisa's voice, as it should be, no longer hits the notes it once did, and they had to lower it. It was logical for them to present the new album; at least they didn’t bombard you with the entire tracklist in a row (as many do, ruining the surprise effect of concerts), but rather alternated pieces from "Anastasis" and others without breaking the flow... What’s a tuner, anyway? Did they play with televisions? As for Lisotta, she can fill herself with Botox and make all the faces she wants, as long as she sings like that. Sorry, but no... :-\

They owe nothing to Anneke. I adore her, make no mistake, but she wrote little or nothing when she was in The Gathering, except for the occasional piece (I’m thinking of "My Electricity"); she had the "only" merit of possessing a wonderful voice and thus stood out in the metal scene and beyond, but her merits end there. The music is primarily written by the Rutten brothers, and this wonderful album is yet another (re)confirmation of that. Zero filler (unlike the previous album, which had a couple of dead moments), tracks rich in ideas and often bold in their imposing lengths, a return to more experimental sounds in the wake of "Souvenirs" and "How To Measure A Planet?", and then whoever says otherwise, the annekefags (of which I am one, go figure) Silje is amazing – she may not have the same vocal power as the Dutch girl, but she is more evocative.

They left me completely indifferent; I found them really cold and, as the Tratto emphasizes, too derivative... Although there are a couple of tracks I would gladly listen to again... 2.5

A notch below "Cosmogram," but still a wonderful experience. 7.5

Hallelujah! A masterpiece, definitely my favorite of the trilogy. On the first listen (and even beyond), I was moved; I had never heard Blut Aus Nord sound so heavenly...

One day I was thinking: "but what if I scribbled something about this genius of a video? naaah, no one would give a damn". Anyway, masterpiece.

If you give her a pinch, she goes *ssbrrruuuuuffff*, starts twirling madly around the room and then collapses to the floor, deflated.
