Meme... Have you by any chance listened to the latest one, "The Scarred People"? No, because that too... It will be the sixth album (I think I've lost count by now) terribly mediocre, normal, tired that is being served to us by Edlund & co... Not that I was expecting much, though. I give this and all the following ones a 2.5. With so much melancholy and an ever-growing adoration for "Wildhoney" and "Slumber," which, as the years go by, seem to drift away like a mirage and paradoxically gain more and more value.

I can't stand these guys in general, even though I do find a little passable something here and there in their disco; but this album in particular has been, for me, one of the most irritating and tedious listens I have ever experienced. An agony. Rating 1 only because, unfortunately, I can't deny its existence.

Kudos to Noia Gions for making an album that managed not to utterly bore me after just a quarter of an hour (or even half an hour). It's good, for me it's good. 3.5

As I already told you... The idea may be worth it, but the result just doesn't fit me. :)
Death In June But, What Ends When the Symbols Shatter?

Masterpiece (4.5) and obviously my favorite by DIJ, perhaps on par with "The Wall Of Sacrifice." Pearce has never been a Nazi (and in any case, he never brought up the subject with the intent to take a side) and Death In June are not a "political" band like certain caricatures in the scene (I think of Von Thronstahl) who clearly have misunderstood the message of a seminal and profound band like this. Let’s not forget that Doug is also an openly gay man, making it all the more reason to stop dragging the story of neo-Nazism into the conversation, which unfortunately (as I have personally witnessed) is believed by many misguided individuals who inflate like hot air balloons listening to Death In June and shouting HAILHITLAH. As for the review, I wouldn't know.

Good review, at least a valid alternative to that other delirious crap published a few weeks ago. I also agree regarding “The Host Of Seraphim,” they definitely lowered it because Gerrard can't reach certain notes anymore. As for the rest, the rating speaks for itself.

Better than the previous one, inevitably a notch below "Takk" and the parentheses. Still a great album, in (my) top 10 of this year.

I, on the other hand, no longer expect anything; they gave what they had to give and now justly feast on the crumbs and leftovers of what they themselves have created. This album would deserve mention simply for being a step forward compared to that soft, foul-smelling excrement of "For Lies I Sire" (in hindsight, let's forget about those three stars...). For the rest, there are a few pleasant/discreet moments here and there, some tracks that have ground my gears like very few others have managed to do this year, the usual lyrics that are now on the brink of self-parody (just read the titles, and all those parts spoken with such conviction make me laugh out loud), which, however, are loved by the dark fans who enjoy acting like miserable and maudits (lighten up a bit, for heaven's sake), and, as always, heaps of craftsmanship without infamy or praise. In any case, it’s not the return to origins hoped for from the EP "The Barghest O' Whitby" – and I don’t know why I’m not surprised. It will soon be forgotten.
