While revering Tibet as if he were some kind of god descended to earth, I was surprised by this collaboration. The grandiloquence spills over into redundancy a bit towards the end; for instance, Pinocchio's HandJob (LOL) could very well not be there and it wouldn't make any difference. But other than that, it’s a delight; he, by the way, SINGS, can you believe it?!

Aside from Oiseaux de proie and a few scattered moments here and there, it didn’t convince or engage me, and the levels of Écailles de Lune seem very far away already. Good as background for a post-lunch drowsiness.
Meshuggah The Violent Sleep of Reason

I admire and respect them; it's a shame I've never managed to listen to one of their albums in full. For two or three tracks, I get pumped, but then I end up with a headache. I'll probably take this one in small doses too...

For purely personal reasons, I still prefer the 'rollercoaster', but this remains one of the key albums of the '90s.

I saw your writing/review on rym and I stopped by. It seems pointless to give a rating; I can only say that I enjoyed reading you. No issues with the length, which is a subjective matter anyway. I've been listening to the album all week and I find it very personal and heartfelt, as well as unexpectedly experimental in certain moments. I have some doubts about the last three tracks, which sound a bit more sugary compared to the rest, but those are just details. Apart from that, obviously Jesus Alone, Magneto is the one that has stayed with me for the bare arrangements and the disarming interpretation of the King. I fear that overall it will spark debate, but Cave won't give a damn: he needed to write an album like this, and you can tell. I hope that music has eased his pain a bit...
Metallica Hardwired

It's quite pathetic, but unfortunately they've done worse. The good thing is that it lasts only a little while, but the new album (the title of which seems to have been crapped out by Sir Mustaine) will be an indigestible hodgepodge of an hour and a half. They are so loaded with money that they could afford to release a cover album of Peppa Pig songs and still sell out the world tour to promote it.
Steve Roach Structures From Silence
Voto:
Besides Dreamtime Return, The Magnificent Void, and of course this one, my favorite by Roach remains the colossal quadruple album Mystic Chords & Sacred Spaces: a mind-bending trip that you blast in your headphones at the right moment and you never come back to Earth. The rest of his discography seems very scattered to me and not as interesting; he may be a master in his genre, but he lacks a bit of the gift of synthesis, and in the long run, it's hard to keep up with his annual releases...
Autechre ELSEQ 1-5

So far the only misstep remains Oversteps. With Exai and this brick of an album, they have made a great comeback. Biblical Autechre.
