Yes, but I'm not saying that Verdena are rock in person, of course not. I'm just saying that they're viewed a bit too negatively, either hated or loved, no middle ground. Instead, in my opinion, they are one of the few, because in the end there are few groups that deserve it, along with someone you've mentioned whom I know and like, but let's leave them alone; let's not go after them just because, even if they're seen as an alternative band, they manage to make good money and fill up concerts. That’s a gift, not a flaw.

I don't follow MTV or the radio, but I'm sure they'll play their videos either at night or occasionally; they certainly don't get the airtime like Green Day or Madonna. As for the rest, I said that in terms of rock in Italy, they are among the best, but when it comes to true rock, if I want to listen to something real and alternative, I'd rather check out something else. Anyway, they may disgust you, but I can't deny that they've made some nice albums. Sure, if they were a bit heavier, I'd probably like them even more, but that would go against their style, which is quite light and "pop." @franci! And who are these 20 bands that are better than Verdena? I like Il Teatro Degli Orrori, but frankly, I don’t think they are on the same level as Verdena... so who are these 20 little bands? Assuming that Afterhours, Marlene, Negazione, and CCCP are long gone now ;)

Well, we really enjoy throwing ourselves into the depths; we are used to rock, etc. etc. I still believe that Verdena, even if they don't have a great "personality," make music that is truly impressive. They experiment, they put on great concerts, and out of nowhere they've built their own following. Remember, they don’t get airtime on MTV or radio, and I repeat that if Verdena were in America or England, they would have massive success. Here, we don't have the right mentality because we mistreat the few things we have and always think the grass is greener on the other side. Moreover, there’s a sort of envy and hatred towards this group; everyone criticizes them. "Music for kids," but how many kids listen to "Solo un grande sasso" or "Il Gulliver"? Then they act all high and mighty… but when? In my city, they played concerts in cheap venues without any airs. They copy… sure, who doesn't have influences? I repeat, their only misfortune is being born in a country where Vasco and Ligabue are seen as rockers, and rebellious youth watch MTV and think Finley are cool.

I had the pleasure of meeting Alberto, and I have to say he wasn't full of himself at all. As for Agnelli, I remind you that he did a certain "hai paura del buio?" and that’s enough for me not to hold it against him, even though he did some things he could have easily avoided. In my opinion, Verdena are absolutely among the best in Italy today, and if they were an English band, they would be famous all over the world. I think they are very limited by our country, but that doesn’t take anything away from the music they make.

I don’t sense much psychedelia in their beginnings, for me it’s just simple punk rock.. anyway, it’s a great start for a band that will later prove to have the guts.
