But excuse me, how can I take you seriously if you first compare them to the Finleys (!), then give an absolutely personal and arbitrary opinion like, “do you know how much a guy from Modica cares about certain communisms?” (still with these communisms?!?). Anyway, besides post rock, a piece with a standard metallic tone can also be associated with noise, if not shoegaze, and something like tatranky to a sort of very atmospheric techno-pop. The influences are multiple; the only common factor is the sonic minimalism, which in the new album is clearer and more evident, inevitably leading to a comparison with post rock. So they arrive at post rock out of needs related to the spirit of their music and their stories, not from an arbitrary decision like “let's do post rock.” By the way, post rock post rock doesn’t mean a damn thing; I and especially rocknroll have tried to respond to you by avoiding these childish classifications. And then obviously there are writers and writers; Clementi was more of a poet, while Offlaga expand the narrative dimension of their songs. They are complete stories that fit into an absolutely vital context and, from my experience, have great emotional depth even before being social. You could say that Joanna Newsom also tells stories and sings at the same time, but her tales are of a different type, and still lack the social background of Offlaga.
@ugly panda I know the Disciplinatha album; I had listened to it before and was aware of the fierce criticisms, but nothing more. I would like to know more.

Listen, damn it, if you frame it this way, every word is superfluous. Anyway, I would like to know how one can consider a group like that intellectual and pretentious compared to, for example, Marlene Kuntz, who have made intellectualism their way of life. To me, they all seem like honest and simple songs, which may even seem naive (Kappler or Piccolapietroburgo), but instead show a world of characters and situations that are absolutely plausible and entirely Italian, without being provincial. CCCP could do it, the immense Massimo Volume could do it, but tell me how many other people can achieve the same. I say it once again, what distinguishes Offlaga, for example, from Finley or Marlene Kuntz is the ability to be Italian without being provincial, just a good imitation of trendy English or American bands and nothing more. From my humble point of view, I believe that precisely the humility and the rejection, at least in content, of many foreign stylistic features guarantee them a rightful place in the history of our music. Forgive me for the comparison between Finley and Marlene, it's just an example, forced by the fact that damn it, Azzo is bringing them up out of the blue for the last 3 or 4 comments.

I completely agree with rockandrollsuicide; I was also preparing a more comprehensive discussion, but you took the words right out of my mouth. First of all, we need to set aside any discourse based on labels and classifications (post or not post), which, besides being stupid, is also sad. And when it comes to politics, it’s truly disheartening that the parodic and nostalgic aspects haven’t been recognized, as they are much more evident than in cccp (“Socialismo tascabile” is not that hard to read something into). And to be frank, cccp aren’t even an exact comparison: the only ones that come to mind are massimo volume, who are incomparable but certainly bigger. However, the offlaga add a series of definitively innovative elements, not just in the strictly musical realm. From a narrative perspective, the stories are minimalist and may appear cold, while they are rich in unexpected pathos, conveyed, if not especially, through live performances. The loops, deconstructions, and more or less hidden melodies seem to be the most natural soil for nurturing the singer's declamations. But what is that force that makes the result far greater than the sum of its parts? This is also felt clearly from the first listens, if, as usual, one doesn’t stop at the more superficial side: the offlaga have achieved something extremely difficult, capturing a spirit that allows us to identify with the characters, the sensations, the values—a spirit that is entirely Italian. I think they will never succeed abroad, but I don't care at all; I dream of seeing them at San Siro in place of Rossi or Pausini because they deserve it, having crafted masterpieces of contemporary Italian music. They don’t deserve stupid insults from people who should at least know what they’re talking about before condemning them. On this site, we accept people who trash Pink Floyd and Clash, but only because they usually demonstrate a minimal understanding of the subject.

shame shame shame on all those who vote against the Offlaga, great (greatest?), exciting, they sincerely make you reflect on small and large stories, live they are super likable and very humble, socialism was better without a doubt, but I give a 5 to balance things out with these alternatives of my balls.

Finally, someone here has reviewed them; I should have done it myself since I'm a fan, but this review isn't bad at all. There's less noise and more "post-rock" (forgive me), which makes them seem more defined. The tracks are extraordinary anyway, sensitive overall, but I miss gems like the standard metallic tone (for me, it's a real anthem), tatranky (they really nailed everything), robespierre, or piccola pietroburgo. Anyway, I just need them not to have disappointed my (very high) expectations. Go see them live; I really enjoyed them a couple of years ago in Naples.
