I agree with you, fedeee, but I would like to say a couple of things, considering we’re discussing one of my favorite genres, punk and all its derivatives: 1) Personally, I don’t like melodic hardcore and new school hardcore (whatever new school means, and I’ve already discussed this topic) on a subjective level; I really can’t consider them music. This won’t help the discussion, but it’s a necessary premise. 2) For me, punk is pure ATTITUDE, you know? It’s not tied to things like speed, certain drumming, or specific singing styles; it’s ATTITUDE above all else, and in my opinion, these people have the attitude of simply making money. Just think about the fact that they use clichés that have been ABOLISHED for centuries, starting from lyrics with an astonishing banality and repetitiveness, to a certain type of clothing. I believe these people are characterized by a feature that is, among other things, exaggerated: the SUPERFICIALITY of their approach, and I’m not talking about philosophical ideas or political theories, but really about the way they make music: they are idiots who pretend to be tough and pure, only they try to hide it in new school, while it’s more evident in melodic. This is why they sometimes come off as likable to teenagers. I, too, listened to Lagwagon, Millencolin, The Offspring, and Pennywise at 15, but then I discovered the bands from '77, then the English ones from the '80s, and finally American hardcore with all its wonderful variants and derivatives, and I changed my mind; okay, I will always have some sort of emotional bond with those people, those bands, even if back then I realized that they were basically idiots (and I’m talking about their approach, sensitivity, and depth), total idiots. And now, thankfully, there’s the internet that offers everyone an almost infinite amount of music, because I ask myself and wonder, WHY LISTEN TO SHIT MUSIC?

Well, from the idea I’ve formed, even after listening to quite a few tracks, these are too polished and nice and friendly, but above all they are BANAL. This stuff would have sounded old even back in '82, in my opinion. And I really don’t like the metal influences, maybe that's part of why I can't appreciate them. From a content perspective, in terms of themes and everything, they seem very unoriginal, to say the least, and exude a unique sense of desolation. What can I say, in the scene, from what I've heard there are small variations, like the more emo group and the more metal one, but it’s always the same rehashed pap, and by the way, very catchy and with a production that’s quite polished for the genre standards. Anyway, I think that by the '80s they realized they couldn’t keep doing the same things, and thus hardcore revolutionized itself, to say the least. For me, hardcore is about exploration, even stylistically, always serving a message. This stuff is still a 1, but better than melodic bands, and those who defend them... well... there’s not much to discuss with those who listen to melodic hardcore.

Okay, I was too harsh giving a two to the review, especially since it convinced me to download this CD. Also, from the sample, which is the only thing I've listened to so far from this group, the voice seemed similar to some tracks by Fugazi, and I can confirm that. Just think of some passages from "The Argument"; in terms of timbre and style, it sounded almost the same to me, and if it's not exactly the same, they're definitely trying to resemble it.
