James MacTeigue V per Vendetta
Voto:
A beautiful and entertaining film, with some inconsistencies in the flow (and in the psyche of the character "V") but nothing truly serious, considering it's based on a comic book story. It manages to entertain and intrigue until the very end. I gave the review a "4" (just like the movie!) instead of a "5" because I don't agree with the criticism directed at the ending ("that leaves you with a clear conscience" ?!?).
Woody Allen Il Dittatore Dello Stato Libero Di Bananas
Voto:
For the times that were running, the film was a nice blow to American foreign policy, even though (as always with Woody Allen) there are jabs at a certain type of "alternative" lifestyle, left-leaning or not. I just finished watching it five minutes ago: there are really a lot of comedic scenes. The one of the feast on the beach with the brunette revolutionary is wonderful (a similar gag with Diane Keaton will be repeated in "Sleeper"). "Bananas" (that’s the original title) means something like "Follies." Noteworthy is the debut of a very young Stallone in the role of a thug. Louise Lasser, the female lead, was Allen's second wife. She had already acted with him in "Take the Money and Run"; by the time of "Bananas," the couple had been divorced for a year. Until 1997, when he will marry his stepdaughter Soon-Yi, Woody will not remarry.

Yes! Two great singer-songwriters. Then one of them will lose his way, but his old songs still remain in the heart.
King Crimson In The Court Of The Crimson King
Voto:
Essential albums and bands, although Fripp in later years (I would say: after "Lizard") would slide down a tangent not always necessarily understandable by human minds. "In The Court Of The Crimson King" was a sensation back then and still is today.

Popol Vuh Hosianna Mantra
Voto:
I've been a fan of Popol Vuh forever, but I give this album a "4" instead of a "5". "Affenstunde" (1970), "In Den Garten Pharaos" (1971), "Einsjäger & Siebenjäger" (1975), and "Letzte Tage - Letzte Nächte" (1976) are the ones that have always given me the most.
For those who are not familiar with Popol Vuh, you can still get into their music by buying one of the (numerous!) compilations. They are great. And I deliberately use the present tense, even though poor Florian reached Nirvana several years ago.
Don't confuse them with a Scandinavian (Norwegian, I believe) band that went by the same name and was active around 1970 (but produced very different music).
Genesis BBC Sessions 1970-1972
Voto:
One of the problems of the early Genesis was indeed the acoustics (Gabriel had to sing inside the shower cubicle to create an echo effect and other similar oddities), but there’s no doubt that any archive fragment of this band holds much more value than many contemporary productions that are backed by excellent technical means but reveal a lack of genius, both in lyrics and in music.
Genesis ....Calling All Stations...
Voto:
Absurdly, I give your review a "4" because it made me laugh (in a positive way for you). As for the album, which doesn't even come close to the golden period of Genesis, let alone to Phil Collins' nonsense like ABACAB, it's better to just move on. And, for the second time absurdly, I say that from "Calling All Stations..." only Ray Wilson is worth saving, because honestly, he is animated by good intentions.
Le Orme Felona e Sorona
Voto:
In 1974, "Felona e Sorona" was also released sung in English, with lyrics by Peter Hammill of Van der Graaf Generator. The publication took place under the auspices of the prestigious Charisma label. The original remains inimitable, not least because in the English album Tagliapietra's voice does not always manage to support the text and melody with the precision of the Italian version.
