Yeah, man, Dimebag's harmonies, the killer solos (domination is genius), and his unmatched use of distortion and effects. A real god. I don't recall Pat Metheny, I’m tired of sifting through that crap list ;).. @embryo I've never been into Genesis, so I know little about the guitar techniques they used, and it's a hassle : )

exactly as petrucci and even more...among rock guitarists, angus young holds a significant place, I would say..of course, if we talk about metal, the discussion opens up immensely..where do we place that genius dimebag darrell? randy rhoads?

Alessio, I know that tapping is the usual nonsense; a 15-year-old friend of mine does it too... but it's still nonsense. Back in '79, I don't know how many people were doing it. I'm not bold enough to say that Van Halen invented it, but he certainly had a good role in its popularity. Dragonforce is the most despicable band I've seen recently. They are just pathetic. Anyway, it's absolutely right to talk about the passion with which someone plays, but in some cases, passion goes hand in hand with technique. For example, Satriani seems pretty "passionate" to me.
