R.E.M. Around The Sun

But let's not kid ourselves... this album is not only the worst of their discography, it is also the testament to the band’s transition from a cult status to that of a "joke." It's no coincidence that Michael Stipe is now standing alongside Bono, Chris Martin, Bob Geldof, Pavarotti, and people like that, the main proponent of pseudo-humanitarian actions dragging the masses. The R.E.M. have stopped making music and started talking about their music and themselves... in a word, they have heavily "commercialized" themselves. The downward spiral began with Bill Berry's departure: the three remaining members have completely lost their minds. "Up" still had some good ideas but already showed several huge flaws, "Reveal" was the first heavy abyss, and this is simply "unlistenable." You may not agree with me, but this is coming from someone who went crazy back in the days of "Out Of Time" and bought the entire discography on tape, who drooled at every rare appearance of the band on TV, who was dying with each new release, who for quite a long period had the R.E.M. as the sole soundtrack to every moment lived. You fans of the new wave can say that this is a great work, but for me, the R.E.M. are dead; the album is a slap in the face to those who have always supported them and brought them this far... to where? Making videos for teenagers on TRL and spouting nonsense in interviews! The biggest musical disappointment of my life!

First of all, thank you Oceansize for this review that gives me the opportunity to say a couple of things that have been bothering me for a while (so guaranteed 5 stars): ENOUGH with the pseudo-humanitarian operations that are really just advertising stunts, and the positive comments on this site prove it. Dear kids, do you really think Bono gains nothing from these operations? Aside from the fact that, looking at the world we live in, I wouldn’t trust that all the proceeds go to charity, assuming that no one takes a cut first, but well, this is unverifiable just like the opposite... but do you have any idea of the enormous publicity Bono gets from all these operations? Notice it: in every humanitarian project, he is always there, along with Bob Geldof and lately my former idol Michael Stipe. Let me remind you that Mr. whatever-his-name-is aka Bono has even been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize next to names that, both for prestige and commitment, would be ashamed to be associated with a spoiled rockstar with a delusion of omnipotence! And isn’t that advertising? And then, if Bono truly believed in what he’s doing, he wouldn’t go around loaded with billions, moving imposing structures, spending heaps of money on super-technological videos and the mammoth tours of U2. How can you still swallow the nonsense of these clowns in 2006? ENOUGH! And now the latest little clown, Billie Joe, has joined in! Hooray for the politically correct humanitarian rock! Hooray for the ballooning asses of consumers! And we should even thank them while they are sodomizing us? Then let's forget about Live 8, the biggest idiocy on Earth: oh yes, we’ve changed the world, yes yes! The memory of Woodstock still clouds our minds! One last thing: the best way to do charity is to offer concrete help and raise awareness among political classes -> I don’t know what will become of this money! Anyway, it’s Christmas time: a charitable gift is the solution to every problem and to our fake conscience! (new debaser sucks) with love, Merry Christmas to all, beautiful and ugly, hot girls, dogs, gay and trans!

eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ? Pitchfork gave a 1.9 to Lateralus... if that's the case, everything takes on a new meaning and the conversation, which was almost captivating me, has become as engaging as a rash... well-written review, it's true, but at this point I have serious doubts about the rating for the album that I'll avoid tearing apart just because I haven't listened to it... anyway, ire aside, Timberlake, although unbearable, is among the least unbearable in the Cerebrolex-Pop scene... anyway, I repeat, 1.9 for Lateralus eeeeeeeeeeeeehhhhhhhhhhh? coooooooooooooosaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa?

Well, yes, in fact, by copying and pasting the comment you save time, but it's like talking to a robot that has only memorized three phrases... there's not much fun in it! Advice from a layabout to Emanuela82: not going to work, huh?

Oh oh X&Y (which rhymes in English too): Emanuela82 is the biggest fake on DeBaser: she always leaves the same phrase as a comment on every review she reads! Click on her name and you will discover her face with angelic features... Emanuela let's go out together please!

I reiterate my opinion (which no one cares about) on this banning issue (is that the term?): Despite my disagreement with the management of this site for the choice to publish shameful reviews for the Italian language under the pretext of publishing everything, I must say that banning Mave-rick was a righteous choice, both for his mega-douche photo and for the fact that everything he said unleashed a torrent of insults of uncontrollable power. In my opinion, it was a form of defense for the poor guy, who didn’t have the linguistic tools necessary to silence the storm of insults that rained down on him. I do not agree, however, with banning people who blaspheme: dear friends, Italy is now a secular state! Yes, it’s true that we have the Vatican just 1 meter away, but the Pope & co. don’t command anything, so at least on a freely accessible website, let’s not be bigots. Faith and religion are personal matters: one is completely free to be an atheist and think that the story of Jesus, God, and company is nonsense, and banning him means imposing a personal opinion on him. There is freedom of belief and non-belief: enough with the demonization of those who blaspheme. It is a personal choice! And if you think it is detrimental for a child: 1) swear words, racist comments, death threats, and sexual provocations that abound here, especially from yours truly, are not any less detrimental; 2) online, a kid can access porn, violent, or heretical sites without anyone telling him anything! Let’s rehabilitate those who blaspheme! Enough with the false moralism! We are free to think! I’m done! Applause! Thank you!
