Masterpiece. Certain comments on a work like this (such as those by caz) are shameful and debatable.

Then I think I was clear when I referred to the music videos that accompanied 'Up,' what the hell live performances have to do with it I don't know... of course, the archangel live is always great (even with the belly and the impressive resemblance to Faletti) - Mariaelena, like you I adore Gabriel and I have all his works, but that doesn't mean I have to like the ridiculous video of 'Growing up,' and no, damn it... I still consider him one of the few true geniuses of rock around, and that's why sometimes the disappointment is double. Aside from the 'So' period, he's amazing in terms of research and visionary quality with 'Zaar,' 'Digging in the dirt,' and 'Kiss that frog'; and I also find 'Washing of the water,' 'Father, son,' 'The Barry Williams show,' and 'The drop' worthy of PG's sensitivity. Regarding the 4 for this record, dear Mariaelena, it’s quite consistent with my thoughts because without those 2-3 songs I could have rated it as low as 5, compared to the crap that's out there in these years... however, according to me, 'Us' in terms of arrangements and individual songs is simply better.

Well, it’s not like I was discussing Peter's athletic abilities at 56... :D

Great album, though not without its flaws: alongside super tracks like 'Protection', 'Karmacoma', 'Weather Storm', and 'Sly', there are mediocre ones such as 'Spying Glass' or (sic!) 'Light My Fire'...

Peter Gabriel Up

Alas, the first album of the Archangel Gabriel that does not fully satisfy me: on one side the King Crimson nightmare of 'Darkness', the gospel spirituality of 'Sky blue', and the epic-orchestral march of 'Signal to noise'; on the other hand, frankly minor episodes in Gabriel's catalog like 'Growing up' or the single 'The Barry Williams show'. Moreover, our artist seems to have lost the taste for experimentation in music videos (as well as musically); he who had been a pioneer of visual art since the '80s with 'Shock the monkey', 'Sledgehammer', or 'Big time'. I don't know, you expect the video for 'More than this' maybe directed by Michel Gondry and then you get the commercial for 'Growing up'... Well, let's hope that for the next work he at least calls Mark Romanek.

As for the business name of Michelone's pop project, I truly believe it's inspired by the cult classic from the '60s, "Peeping Tom," by the great Michael Powell, a cursed masterpiece that influenced, among others, Brian De Palma and "Strange Days." If I'm not mistaken, the demiurge of Ipecac mentioned it in an interview; anyway, the film tells the story of a serial killer who films his victims (from an extreme voyeuristic perspective) with a camera, killing them with a blade at the end of the tripod while they are forced to witness their own agony "thanks" to the mirror placed in front of the lens... a perverse, melancholic penetration into subjectivity. ;)

Joyful Goose, I don't know about David, but this is one of the 2 or 3 songs of 'realism' that, when I listen to them, don't give me diarrhea for 49 minutes...

'Bury me' cutie?! 'Suffer' bland?! In 'Tristessa' do you like Billy's high notes?! The ghost track where the hell did you find it, in the fridge before getting drunk with a Duff beer?! Eh, what do you say? Forget about 2, you get 1 and review this classic like it's meant to be, damn it!!
