I won't say a word at the moment about Stockhausen's innovations. At the moment...

Analyzing a work from a technical standpoint and internalizing its message are different yet similar concepts. I adopt a notion already expressed by Cicero: human capability is infinite, but without proper compositional technique, it remains only raw material. Obviously, there are countless ways to compose, stemming from the various factors that the composer has embraced throughout their personal and artistic growth. Avant-garde music, which is an extremization of classical music from the 20th-21st century, is certainly elite music due to its complexity and its unsuitability for the so-called "mass" (I myself confess, despite having been listening only to avant-garde for a while, that I do not love it deeply). However, we must eliminate the classic cliché of the artist "who plays the teapots because they can't play the piano, passing off their music as art." Music in all its forms is art, even throwing a stone into the sea, if it can have meaning for someone. To summarize, let me give a trivial example: if one does not have a solid philosophical foundation, Nietzsche's Uebermensch (or Nicciano, as one might say) becomes D'Annunzio's Superuomo: it will be another concept, I do not doubt that, but you can't pass off the latter as the former, because they are two distinct and separate things.

Superb documentary and wonderful review.
Memorable the dialogue with Ungaretti:
"But are you a transgressor?"
"You see, I am a poet, and as such I must transgress."

I haven't seen the film yet, but the reviewer's stance will make me reflect on the weaknesses of the movie when I get around to watching it. As for Adreotti, he reminds me a lot of a French politician from the second half of the eighteenth century, who loved children, was one of the minds behind the French Revolution, and literally gave his life for the good of France: his name was Maximilien-François-Marie-Isidore de Robespierre....

I will listen to something and see if I can review it. Right now I'm thinking about a review on Thelonious Monk.

It's Terry Riley, the one whom The Who dedicated the song Baba O' Riley to. XD

It is also true that Cage's theories, even though his compositions leave many listeners perplexed, have influenced the 50 years of music history that followed. Demetrio Stratos in my review was one example, but I could provide thousands, ranging from the most straightforward genre (the avant-garde) to the most unexpected ones. The same Zappa "reinterpreted" live 4'33" by Cage.

Enjoyable reception, but I’ve never listened to the album: for now, I’m sticking to my 3+1 Genesis albums (Foxtrot, Selling England By The Pound, A Trick Of The Tail, and an '80s Greatest Hits) that I continue to devour daily.
