Brian May Back To The Light
Voto:
In fact, I gave my vote to the album (and a 3 doesn't seem like a judgment from a hardcore fan), I just wanted to counter all the invectives you've thrown towards May as a guitarist in absolute terms and not specifically in reference to his album (which I reiterate is not an outstanding work, but neither is it excruciating)... And anyway, even if we were to talk only about his career, I predict (as you've already done) that you would begin, with great "objectivity," to say that he’s just crap... but the world goes on anyway, you keep practicing doing 200 semi-quavers a second, because that's real music!! Dear "Lordsandreik", how the hell can you talk about objectivity and say that Brian May is shit? It's fine to have tastes, it's fine to consider music only "the flight of the bumblebee" (I hope you catch the double meaning)... but don't pull a fast one on me! Setting aside genres, styles, and periods, it’s enough to say that May is one of those musicians who has managed to create his own unique style, instantly recognizable among the hundreds of thousands of guitarists out there. Doesn’t that seem like something??? Equipment, amplification solutions, harmonization technique (which you might not like, but in that field, he is unbeatable), inventiveness, imagination, musical intelligence (in concert, he manages to condense in 6 strings what he does in the studio with 8 guitars...), not to mention that he has written historical tracks. I agree that his solo albums are, after all, "average," but I think any music enthusiast who has at least two neurons bumping into each other now and then should recognize his value. No hard feelings.
