Dream Theater Metropolis Pt 2: Scenes From A Memory

I have already reiterated about this record... I have weighed all the pros and cons and evaluated them carefully (I’m not joking when I say that I’ve listened to this album about twenty times in the last month)...
The conclusions are that I still like Dream Theater, they still move me, but I’ve noticed that Airone is also right, and more precisely, Dream Theater is missing something, and that is the warmth... Not the soul, that’s there, but the warmth... Something I found when I listened for the first time the other day (HOW ASHAMED I AM OF MY MUSICAL IGNORANCE!!!) to "Nursery Crime" and "Foxtrot" by Genesis... However, this album deserves a 5 for the commitment, for the idea, and for branching out somewhat from other albums... and a 5 also to IO for the effort, even if this review is a bit long, right IO? ;)

I must confess my ignorance, pugliamix... The two films you mentioned, I've "caught a glimpse" of them but haven't watched them properly, and I'm a bit ashamed, especially for "L'uomo delle stelle," which received really positive reviews. I'll make an effort to educate myself as soon as possible ;) (after all, if I love this site, it's mainly because one never stops learning!!!). Until next time. :D

Thank you for the valuable advice, ZiON, I'll try to stock up :)) It’s true, poddoski, they could have avoided the explosion ;)

It's true: Morricone is the king of Western soundtracks, but here, as you said, the music is nothing short of fantastic... One point more for Morricone :D

X poddoski: the message that the film wants to convey to the audience unfortunately lies precisely in that ending which, to be honest, left me a bit perplexed as well (not so much the ending itself, but rather the way it was presented). What a shame, because in the book this ending was brilliantly executed and it needed careful attention. One point less for Tornatore ;)

For turkish: I had no doubt you knew the film was based on Baricco's "Novecento," I just wanted to emphasize that... ;-) Anyway, many people don't like Baricco, and there are even more who can't stand Tornatore... I can barely tolerate him myself ("Malena" was an abomination...) but he managed to make this film without distorting the emphasis given by Baricco... and as you may have noticed, I love Baricco :D... P.S.: thanks to everyone for the vote, it's nice to know that my first review didn't disappoint anyone...

"A sh*tty movie"... turkish... keep in mind that the book "Novecento" was written by a certain Alessandro Baricco... Come on... And anyway, here we’re commenting on the soundtrack, not the movie. So, at least make the next comment relevant... ;-) Thanks everyone for the comments... :D
