Gale is not the Italian singer-songwriter scene that is disheartening; there are plenty of good singer-songwriters in Italy (and there have been many). What is disheartening is 1) the Italians as a population in general 2) the rock scene and the pseudopersonas that inhabit it. Take my advice, there are good singer-songwriters in Italy, they just aren't played by mainstream radio like Niccolò Fabi, but they exist.

Salvatores' films don't even have the pretension of being masterpieces. I've never said that Salvatores is a genius, but he seems to me to be an honest director. He doesn't strike me as the latest Muccino with his damn preachings and screams. And this seems like a decent film (or nice as you say).

Burton is not a genius - Salvatores doesn't experiment - this one here - that one there... Nirvana seems to me an honest film, better than a thousand crap that are going around now.
