David Gilmour On An Island

I would have expected something more from Gilmour after such a long silence. I find the album to be overly restrained and contemplative; it lacks that drive but above all that musical "risk" that belongs to Waters. And that’s also why I prefer his solo work to Gilmour's. This doesn't mean it's a bad album, especially since the sound of his guitar is always a pleasure for our ears!

Giordiboy, you know you’re right. Actually, listening to the track with Stipe again, I have to say it’s not exactly the best. Sometimes you need to listen more than once! However, I’m starting to really like Blind. I completely agree with you that you prefer 9 great songs over 13 in which there’s always some kind of joke. Whenever I see an album with 14-15 tracks, it always smells a bit fishy to me!

Jethro Tull Crest Of A Knave

The artistic life of Jethro Tull can be divided into two distinct parts. The first, from their debut "This Was" to "Heavy Horses," strongly based on folk-blues, with the two gems being "Thick as a Brick" and "Aqualung," and a second part where more modern sounds begin to emerge, including electronics (see "Under Wraps").
Well... of the second phase of this amazing and inimitable band, this is definitely one of the most successful albums. In fact, you can feel the influence of those years, and not by chance, as our reviewer has pointed out, Anderson in some tracks "imitates" Mark Knopfler in his singing.
The most beautiful tracks are "Budapest" (absolutely one of their best songs) and "Farm on the Freeway." I disagree with the judgment of "She Said She Was a Dancer"; calling it boring seems quite misplaced, just as I don’t agree with the intro of "Steel Monkey," a compelling track due to its rhythm.
Anyway, managing to create an album like this after 20 years of career is not easy, so.... GREAT TULL..... ALWAYS!!!

I completely disagree with the 5-star rating for this album. Either we decide to change the rating system (like from 1 to 10) maybe including half points, or else we risk that many albums (like this one) get the highest ratings even though they don't objectively deserve it.
I have a question for Giacomo: "Would you ever give a 10 as a rating to this album?"
I'll answer it for you: "Absolutely not."
All this preamble to say that in my opinion, the album is nothing special; let's say the Placebo have maintained their "average" without overdoing it but also without being a complete disappointment. I'd call it a classic "neither here nor there" album. There are good tracks (like the duet with Michael Stipe) and others (like Pierrot the clown) that are painfully dull. The Placebo have shown, like many bands of the moment, that they are not yet mature enough to make the so-called "quality leap."

x SENIOR 86: Yes, I recommend buying Marbles, another great album from the "new" Marillion. For sure, it’s the best along with Brave since Fish left the band.

Finally!! You have no idea how long I’ve been waiting for a review of this album, one of my all-time favorites. Every time I put it on, I can never take it off nor skip any tracks. It’s a magnificent album that never gives you a moment’s respite. I truly can’t find any flaws in this album, and I believe its uniqueness lies in the transitions from one piece to another... absolute gems!
I didn’t mind the review; maybe it could have focused better on the description of the tracks, but I don’t think it’s fair to treat it like that! I’ve read some truly outrageous reviews that were written half-heartedly and often didn’t exceed ten lines, and I’ve never seen such animosity!!

x squallor: damn, how can you define this album flat, boring, bland, etc???? When I read these posts, I really get on edge!! The only thing I can suggest is to try listening to it once again.
