Since I don't know the J&MC well, I'll weigh in on Coppola, saying just one thing: read "The Virgin Suicides," the book by Eugenides from which the film is adapted, and see for yourselves if it could have been represented better than how Coppola did. And then there's Air... I've never seen a triple whammy of book/film/soundtrack at such a high level. That said, very poetic indeed, even though now you see the mountains...

I remember Gorecky, a beautiful piece. In fact, it wasn’t exactly trip-hop, but it was normal to associate it with the “genre” (?)(around the same time there was also the remix of Milk by Garbage done by Tricky, which is a bit like Lamb, and Tricky is trip-hop...). I'm getting tangled up. Anyway, the only one who has captured the spirit of Portishead, in my opinion, denver, was Beth Gibbons herself, who made a splendid album that is not trip-hop at all. Nice dig, nonetheless.

Eh eh, trella, no, I lost Mary Poppins... it’s just that December was ending :) Belle and Sebastian? Well, there are similarities: but more folk-loristic. Gracias kid, you know what? I can’t prefer one over the others: I like all four equally! So The Crane Wife, I agree, is not a step back at all. @bisius: actually, I had titled it "Her majesty the dec.", not just "Her majesty", but the publishers corrected me. What the hell is the real title?? Ah, Decembrists on February 17 in Bologna!
