Thee, Stranded Horse Churning Strides
Voto:
I still can’t figure out if it’s an obsessive or ethereal record, especially when he gets lost for minutes and minutes (like in that swaying eel), whether he does it because he gets emotional and can’t let go of the vibe, or if he does it to get dazed, to get high, but I like it, and I like it a lot, though maybe sharpened suede stands out more than the others, because it’s more disconnected. thanx trella for yet another tip.
The National Boxer
Voto:
Thank you, Instant. Indeed, Racing Like A Pro is among the two or three best tracks on the album (I wonder why I didn't mention it...). Nervous and subdued acoustic guitar: beautiful. But I'm not into Faber. The National on November 21 in Milan.
Saybia Eyes On The Highway
Voto:
Uhm, I Surrender has a couple of sections that are reminiscent of Sing by Travis. Not bad, mind you, but I prefer Guardian Angel or Stranded from that album. With my band, gale, we played The Second You Sleep: a couple of times people came up to us after the concert asking whose song that was...
Saybia Eyes On The Highway

I still need to listen to it, but I'll do so soon. I agree with you on the evaluation of the previous albums, with the small disappointment of These Are The Days, so your positive judgment on this one reassures me. And let's hope they come on tour around here too, after the taste we had a couple of years ago in Milan... A note of disapproval for the awful cover.
Bat for Lashes Fur and Gold

3.5 for the record. Very evocative and nocturnal, at times perhaps a bit heavy. Trophy, Seal Jubilee, and What's a girl to do are my favorites.
Okkervil River The Stage Names
Voto:
I expected more, honestly: less melancholic than the previous albums, more rhythmic, with horns replacing the accordions. Still well above the folk-rock average, but less intense compared to the early works (and a bit sparse: nine tracks...). The last track is my favorite. Small (?) clarification: the album is called "The Stage Names."
Ash Twilight Of The Innocents
Voto:
I followed Ash when I was sixteen. In the long run, I abandoned them, but I still dedicate some listening time to them. All things considered, I agree with you: this Twilight is the best thing since 1977. There are the usual Ash tracks plus some more garage twists (Dark and Stormy, in my opinion the most interesting one, Princess Six, Shattered Glass). Unfortunately, there are also the usual clichés: End of the World, for example, is a big pile of crap. Anyway, I thought I would put this album aside after one listen. Instead, it lasts a bit longer. Good job, brit-Grant.
Aereogramme My Heart Has A Wish That You Would Not Go
Voto:
I quote Flinstone. "Conscious...", "Barriers" and "Nightmares" are my favorites. But the album is a bit dull...
Portishead Dummy
Voto:
(Dummy is from 1994, not 1997!) The first CD I bought: simply a milestone. Trella and Nick: please don't go, I would envy you too much...
Arcade Fire Live @ Piazza Castello, Ferrara, 11/07/07
Voto:
Ah, don't put your finger in the planer... In fact, I've decided: from now on, always by car to concerts. Maybe it costs a bit more, but you can enjoy everything without worries. Of course, if Conor hadn’t kept us waiting so long... the Arcade Fire had already finished by eleven thirty...
