The Connells Ring
Voto:
I also throw myself into the pot of nostalgic nineties. '74-'75 I used to hum it during my awkward intimate moments, and I even remember the video of New Boy with the kid from Forrest Gump. Cute. Back then, I would have never bought the album. I picked it up a couple of years ago on cassette (!) for 1 euro. I wouldn’t have spent any more than that. And I must say I completely agree with surfer's observations: in the photos they have a Ned Flanders vibe that is truly chilling. And since I've never had much sympathy for guitar-wielding papaboys and boy scout leaders, and since my cassette player (!) is lost somewhere, I've never listened to this Ring in full... Maybe I'll do it thanks to you (or because of you?)... Anyway, the page is nice.
Death Cab For Cutie Plans

I like Transatlanticism less. This is truly a delightful album, enjoyable to listen to a number of times without getting bored. Summer skin and Brothers on a hotel bed are my favorites, also for the very evocative lyrics. The review of Plans was already there, though... :)
British Sea Power Do You Like Rock Music?

Open season had disappointed me: there were a couple of nice pieces, and the rest was flat and boring. I'll miss it!

I really like Tango-noir. They were mentioned to me indirectly: I remember that Bianconi from Baustelle confessed that they are one of his favorite listens. I will try to fill this Roman gap of mine!

Very happy to have piqued your curiosity. True, Marco, "pallosissimo monocorde" is a comment (deliberately exasperated) that could fit. But then again, it’s not easy to make a varied album with so little available... As for availability: the link to his MySpace page is here on the right: there you can find 4 tracks out of the 10 on the album. Otherwise, for 5 euros you can buy it at a concert. Otherwise, for 10, you can order it by mail. Coerced prophylaxis, in fact, is a topic that might interest Mr. Luci della centrale: having to line up in the middle school gym to get a meningitis shot in your ass at twenty-seven, while people crash into the plane trees every other night... it's the shitty present mentioned above.
Pet Shop Boys Release

Refined and intimate. One of the most successful albums by the Pet Shop Boys. I forgot to mention that all the guitars are played by a guy named Johnny Marr. Ad meliora.
The Pigeon Detectives Wait For Me
Voto:
The pigeon detectives really suck. Among the worst albums of the year in its genre.
John Vanderslice Emerald City

Well done, ziabice, which indeed fills a gap. As for the album, I think it's a notch below the previous one, but still appreciable, very Death Cab For Cutie and Postal Service, very pop, but of quality. I remember that the mild-mannered John also composed an interesting "Bill Gates must die"...
The Clientele It's Art Dad

Imagine, threella, that when I played with my little band, we had one piece that was all ours. It was called Die In November, which flipped Die In The Summertime by the Manics. No, just saying... :) @Ramona: a spring review??? Can it exist???

Congratulations blackdog, also for the choice. Really exciting album. Defy this love and Louise stand out among the others. Definitely among my top 10 of the year.
