This perfect album from the first song is a continuum of emotions and music for the ears. Maybe they didn't create anything, but they've mixed a lot of stuff and they've done it divinely (especially in this album), so I would say they've been quite innovative (forget about the idea that you can "create" a genre; nowadays it’s all about rehashing-modifying-shaping etc., but nothing can actually be created... perhaps in the '80s, but certainly not now!) P.S. Quote from Laiho: "You can say we are black metal, thrash, speed, heavy... BUT DON'T SAY WE ARE POWER!"

And instead, I’m happy with this review, despite those who could no longer stand seeing another one. Among those I’ve read (the first ones, in particular), this is absolutely the best, the most objective... it states things as they are, without frills or various accusations of an anti-metallica, nor enthusiastic praise from a blind old fan... just one thing: I really like Unforgiven II :)
