The Mission Children
Voto:
The video for Tower of Str8 is super cheesy... but... I loved the Missions of Children and Curved in Sand. True, nothing new for the era, steeped in '80s vibes, lyrics full of biblical references to the point that Hussey almost seems like a prophet (megalomaniac but convincing). His voice is beautiful! I adore this album, in my opinion, a milestone of the genre alongside Elizium by the Fields of Nephilim.

Well Hal...great choice. I'm not familiar with the album in question, but I know its creator, who is undoubtedly a innovator of rock stereotypes. A real breath of fresh air in a world of music. Hi Hal :)

I wouldn’t be so drastic about copying. Those who use Sylvian's music in an attempt to imitate it do so because they evidently resonate with its notes. Now, genius is the one who proposes; from them, a school emerges. In a school, we can arrive at exponents who exalt the thoughts of the first and enrich them with their own way of feeling. This is like a dialogue. I start from my horizons, however limited, and in reasoning with you, I expand, I open up, I grow. At this point, my initial "genius" (if it’s a true dialogue-exchange) is enriched with new stimuli and moves towards a completeness unimaginable at the beginning of my journey. In simple terms, those who copy DS's style do so because they are captivated by it. They enrich it with their own experiences and elevate it to a new level. At this point, the ball returns to the original DS, who must engage in dialogue with his "new pupil." This is a process of growth. Think of the initial DS, then consider the work of Alesini, Panunzi, Karn, JBK, Steven Wilson (the more experimental side of IEM, Bass Communion, etc.), Saro Cosentino, David Torn, and so on; now DS should manage to integrate his emotions with these "new" proposals to achieve the perfect dialogue. Or am I just a crazy person?

I've heard great things about it, along with the latest album by Elbow. I would love to listen to them.

Mary, I would really love it if you could listen to the album "Timelines" by Stefano Panunzi (reviewed). Buy that little gem for your soul... I feel that you would appreciate it.

Your enthusiasm is hard to share, even if the review is well done. A commercial pop that is derivative and winks at the worst of Battisti (not the one from "anima latina," if you know what I mean). Easy-listening music that flows without a hitch. Summer music of the moment. If you want to consider pop outside of commercial interests, you should try listening to Rufus Wainwright’s Want parts 1 and 2. In Italy, check out "la morte di un amore" by Randone or "la meccanica naturale" by Finisterre (we're talking about high-level pop-rock). Forgive the harsh critique.

@Turkish: thank you for sharing Stefano's statement... you’ve given me a great gift :)
@Odra: thank you again, it’s nice to know that my research work in the "Italian basement" is appreciated. It all started to show that we do have quality music here... and especially today, through alternative sources, one can find serious Italian music. Those who say our music is silly don’t realize they are the first to get spoon-fed by MTV & Co. and are people who have never bothered to discover if their assumptions are founded. When I started writing about Deb, I never expected to focus and dedicate myself to the search for good Italian music. But if I can do it, so can everyone (this sounds like a Rocky moment!!!). Enough with myths and false myths; today we just need to spend a bit of energy to find new sources and new talents and, I’ll tell you more, to be able to communicate with the artist in question. A hug :)
