Antonio: out of curiosity, who arrived first? The Anatrofobia are really heavy to digest (just to be clear, not your everyday group, even if they are very friendly and worthy as people). They start from a concept of improvised music and then... well... keeping up with them is truly difficult :)
Lastly, Antonio, I wanted to compliment you because you always manage to have that professionalism I aspire to, and frankly, it's very nice and interesting to exchange thoughts with you. Bye :)

:) Thank you Third, and thank you again. I reviewed this album before diving headfirst into the search for Italian talents. Anyway...take a look (we're generally) also at Riverside (still Polish), Omnia Opera (Red Shift), Pineapple Thief, and Elbow. Interesting groups. Right now I'm in touch with a Tuscan band (Comfort) that is rumored to be interesting...I'll let you know. While you're exploring (if your liver can take it), listen to the heirs of the Italian King Crimson (the Bolognese Stereokimono)...truly impressive! Hugs and thanks...as always, from the heart.

Why a new review on Animals? Is it possible that we couldn't add a perspective on the album to the other 5 already pending on our deb? Are there really still news to discover that deserve a separate chapter? I’m not mad at you... but could you at least check if someone has already written it!

But now in Italy, you can find a lot. Even if prog, give a listen to these Italian avant-garde groups like Stereokimono (album "prismosfera") and the ISN'T with "deep ocean inside"... you'll see that there's really a lot of particularly experimental music with complex arrangements based on prog. If you get the chance, take a look at Anatrofobia with "tesa musica marginale"... bai bai (I’m stealing from Antonio)
Ligabue Miss Mondo

Good review, but one point needs to be made: where is it written that if a person is a farmer, a metalworker, or a garbage collector, they are unable to think profoundly and philosophize? Personally, I know graduates who have brains only for walking! Culture does not depend on how much was spent to obtain it, but on how it is used. After all, it’s enough to read. As for what I think of Ligabue... well... he is excessively overrated by a trend that he carries with him. I would say that musically speaking, music is not exactly his strong suit. A few lyrics are worth saving, though...

Cheers and thanks Third
New Trolls Concerto Grosso n° 2
Voto:
to Ruby: They're selling the concertos Grosso No. 1 and 2 now on a single CD, so you can listen to them together. The first one has 20 minutes of MASSIVE improvisation!
to Third Eye: I mentioned two more albums with a full blending of prog and symphonic from Italian bands; actually, in the '70s, after Concerto No. 1, several records came out trying to replicate the experiment... but in the end, only those three mentioned earlier are perfect. Give them a listen if you can. Bye :)
New Trolls Concerto Grosso n° 2

A concert aimed at reviving the fortunes of a group that ended too soon (I blame De Scalzi and his desire for poppy and heavy music). What a shame, the album feels forced and gets buried under the rubble of the first Concerto Grosso. Re Soleil is brilliant, but unfortunately the rest of the album doesn't live up to it. At the time, Italy was setting the standard... Concerto Grosso No. 1 was never duplicated by the English, who were unable to create anything similar! It was a true trailblazer considering the years. Alongside Concerto Grosso, there were two other interesting works between '73 and '76, namely: Il Rovescio della Medaglia with Contaminazione (A MUST HAVE!!!) and Osanna with Milano Calibro 9. Both featuring a Bacalov in top form. Nice review... too bad about Di Palo (the Italian heir to Hendrix... he really sounds like him on guitar) and company, who lost their way far too quickly!!
Marillion Fugazi
Voto:
Undoubtedly, Marillion are not genre creators, but mere continuators. However, I will link this to an ongoing discussion about David Sylvian and his clones. While it is true that Marillion echoes Genesis, it is also true that they have talent to spare, renewing their style that balances between catchy and the talented musicianship of its members. If you consider the period in which they find themselves... well... Fugazi is a small masterpiece (fantastic three of a perfect pair... hats off to whoever mentioned it). The early Marillion period is beautiful, with at least three interesting albums: Script, Misplaced, and Fugazi. Then with Hogarth, the albums to consider are Brave and Marbles. A step below are Clutching at Straws and the b-side. The rest, aside from a few songs, is very... poor! What a shame. She Camaleon has always been my favorite piece... an excellent combination of haunting sounds and technical skill. Great review.

But of course, colleague darkettono just wanted it to be a joke and nothing more. Talking about these groups brought me back to when (13 years ago) I was very close to dark sounds. I agree with you on the classifications and fully endorse it. It was just a game. Valor is different from Rozz, but that doesn’t make him any less interesting. Listen to it again... it's much less intense than Rozz, less heartbreaking and tormented, but what he wrote isn't bad. If they had been in different groups, they both would have been successful, but their legal disputes created a sort of rivalry for one or the other. In reality, they left an interesting legacy from that period.
