David Sylvian Secrets of the Beehive
Voto:
The first thing that comes to mind when I listen to Sylvian is: this man sings seriously, without any shouts or screams, a whisper to the fragile soul, sweet, dreamy. They talk about David's music, but the lyrics are a true spiritual journey towards ascension... detachment from matter. I love music that contrasts with chaos, with sonic jams, with raw beats that are self-serving..... the same beats that fade with the changes of fashion. Sylvian lives in a dimension all his own... on a completely personal journey, but, if you listen to him, undeniably universal. This is Sylvian, a delicate sheet of rice paper surrounded by the presses of the print.... a refined mentor of wisdom in music. Excellent review and a great record.

I read Alan Parson and here I am. Eclipse, we’re rereading it it seems :). So it seems to me that Eclipse approached Parson in the wrong way, and this is understandable given the Floyd-Parson=Dark Side ratio. The problem when approaching Parson for the first time is precisely "expectations." Parson has his own style (and not too different since many tracks are written by Wolfson) that has little to do with the Pink, but that does not make it critiquable. However, Parson's best works are TALES OF MYSTERY AND IMAGINATION (as my friend Hal suggests :)(by the way, hi Hal)) which contains a very long suite (the fall of the house of Asher) that is quite interesting with Edgar A. Poe as the subject, THE TURN OF FRIENDLY CARD, and PYRAMID, in my opinion the most interesting works. For the rest, the sound is, as you rightly say, typical of the 80s. The essence of the matter is this: if we filter Parson from the idea we have of Floyd-like music, we might appreciate him more. Great review anyway. A hug to everyone. :)

I'm just bothering you for a few clarifications.
1) I agree with Hal, the Pink Floyd are divided into three chapters, all interesting in their own way... different sounds arising from different ways of perceiving "the element of music." Barrett "the divine," Waters "the tormented," Gilmour "the aesthete." Among the three, I naturally lean towards Waters, whom I consider brilliant, as he has a "theatrical and representational" conception of his music. His works are not merely concept albums... they are a lesson in psychoanalysis regarding the fears and the id of man... not everyone can manage to address such topics with such skill and transpose this entire "nightmare" into music.
2) It doesn't make sense to argue about which came first (the egg or the chicken). I fully agree with Eclipse: music, like any area of life, progresses through trials or successive steps, incorporating the old and projecting it into the future. Only if there is continuity between these elements, while fully respecting the differences, is evolution guaranteed. Hi guys... with affection, Logic
Pink Floyd The Final Cut

Final Cut is a fantastic album that features the most beautiful orchestrations in the entire Pink Floyd production. But this genius has a specific name and surname: MR ROGER WATERS! Yes, because Final is the natural continuation of The Wall and Animals, and the transition to The Pros and Cons and Amused to Death by Roger as a solo artist. Not a unique album, but the same album repeated five times! Five masterpieces where the members of Floyd are merely session musicians for Waters' ideas, perhaps the father of the best Pink songs. Is Waters a dictator? Perhaps. Maybe his paranoia is too tight for a great band... but read Waters' lyrics... and read them again... and reread them... if that's not an incitement to thought, then what is modern poetry? Absolutely politicized, absolutely reasoned, desperately rational, Waters invites us all to open our eyes to what humanity itself is throwing up on itself! The cover of Amused to Death (an album that clearly indicates where the true sound of the Floyd has gone) perfectly captures this state of disintegration of the miserable human being. Final is a masterpiece, but it's just a stop on the artistic journey of someone who, despite his character, has inexorably ferried the Floyd towards the cult that now devours them!

So, I didn't give any stars to the album, not because it doesn't deserve it... if that were the case, I wouldn't have even reviewed it! Not rating it is a personal choice of mine... each of you, listening to it, can decide whether to let yourselves be carried away or not... this is a choice that only you can make. For me, I leave you with the pleasure and joy of having recommended it. With affection, LOGIC

forgive me Puglia... only now I realize that I referred to "smodato temperante" and not "trama tenue." When I was describing the album, I meant that! DE-SORRY! :)
To Frantz: well, "horrible" seems excessive, but each one brings their own perspective to the listening experience... the CD reaches each person differently... it couldn't be otherwise. In my own small way of feeling, that CD evokes inner emotions and memories that are not exactly happy... completely relative and not absolute. I respect your opinion, Frantz, and I’m glad you expressed it ;). Ciauuuuz Logic :)
