RPWL World Through My Eyes

Dear Alessia, thank you for the trust you place in my taste... it is evident that my feelings often resonate with yours. It's beautiful to share an emotion that comes from one's own perception. This album is very nice, although less atmospheric than the Nosound CD. But it's worth considering (I could make you a copy if you want). Of the Porcupine Tree, my favorite is undoubtedly Sky Moves Sideways (half instrumental and from which Nosound (fans of PT) draws inspiration). However, a bit lighter, try listening to Lightbulb Sun, which contains Russia on Ice... always one of my favorite pieces. Try listening to this track (beautiful from the last CD) that you can download freely at this link:

Interesting! Even though I don't think it's my kind of thing. Some samples would be needed.
Piero Pelù Né Buoni Né Cattivi

The Litfiba largely revolved around Maroccolo, Ajazzi, and Ringo Di Palma... then those sounds, coincidentally, shifted with Maroccolo. Renzulli and Pelù were merely background. In fact, the good Ghigo struggles to hold a guitar (he played significantly better at the beginning of his career when he was refining his craft). After the first four albums and the death of Ringo, we witnessed the collapse of the band into just another mediocre rock group. Then the solo careers solidified this slackness and musical mediocrity. Bomba boomerang? Detestable... and I consider myself a pacifist! Italian rock is now much more developed by underground bands that have creativity to spare and deserve WAY more attention than these enriched and bored gentlemen. Try listening to Sig V and Nosound; I wrote a review and included some samples (so you can check the difference in creativity and the distinctly more encouraging musical level compared to the nonsense tunes that a mindless market subjects us to and insists we support). Bye :)

Pop should not be used as an alternative term for low-quality and unexperimental music. Do you want to listen to quality author-driven POP? Try listening to Rufus Wainwright and you’ll understand what I’m referring to. Rufus is pop... but what pop, guys! The Sugababes are, alas, an adolescent project aimed at seasonal sales. Tailor-made for that purpose. However, Italian cultured music travels on different tracks. I’ve only heard their hit (it's impossible not to hear it!!)... absolutely sad! Try listening to Sig V. on this site; you’ll find a review and samples there... that’s where you’ll understand what I mean by talent. Bye.

Thanks Odra... but really I didn't put the samples in :D. Thanks psych! Do you think I did it on purpose? It seemed like my worst review to me :)

Well, of course, if we're talking about Hans's carriage I can't stop anymore. When I listen to it I get convulsions... it's practically one of my absolute favorite Italian prog pieces. But when I hum to myself I often choose "maestro della voce." Here's the difference: with maestro I hum, with the carriage I become epileptic. Two great pieces for different purposes. But I prefer epilepsy!!!! :D
Oasis Don't Believe The Truth
Voto:
Just a consideration: assuming that tastes are entirely personal and that music generates emotion by definition, whether it's D'Alessio or Carl Orff, on what basis could Oasis produce a masterpiece like that while Jeff Buckley would be labeled the king of déjà vu and boredom? (A review I only read recently). I truly believe that the only possible answer lies in personal taste; I can’t see any other way out. This isn’t yet another accusation, Fran, it's just that I really don’t grasp the reasons behind it.

I like prog-rock. From Inside, I really like the Flower Kings' Retropolis, for example. Kino has an excellent drummer (Maitland, former Porcupine Tree) for technique and creativity... but the band doesn't take off. Would you be able to put some samples? I know I’m bothering you and I’m sorry, but I’m really curious. PS: try listening to Eloy’s "dawn," a truly superb prog from '76, and RPWL (interesting pop, prog rock in the style of Pink Floyd from Inside, by the way!! of which I wrote a review). Bye and thanks :)

I wanted to know if the CD is released by INSIDEOUT and, if so, do you think it's a good product or just another commercial operation by the aforementioned record label? Insideout is known for forcing its artists to churn out albums at all costs, which, however, end up being mere fluff in the long run. An example? Kino, Transatlantic etc etc. Let me know because, anyway, the album intrigues me! :)
