cptgaio: absolutely in agreement with your thoughts. Often we feel like Masaniello. We stir up dust without understanding a fundamental concept: music respects subjective taste. I listened to GNR in my greener years; I liked them but they didn’t satisfy my needs. In music school, I became snobbish! I thought that anyone who played metal was silly (they just did a few things quickly and that was it, and I used to laugh my head off when I saw Sorum play). Jazz, now that was music! Then I realized that music couldn’t just be about technique, and finally, I approached what I liked most and described it. Saying that certain music is for 15-year-olds makes me think back to when people wanted to alienate themselves from a growth path that everyone goes through. However, hearing that PT are an adolescent group really made me laugh my heart out. You’re right, at this point, any music can be for all ages. :)

Furthermore, you claim that music with cojones is free jazz and so on. Certainly, a painting can be technically impeccable but not pleasant to the eye. Another may not be extremely technical but evoke feelings. The same goes for music. It’s the self and the pleasure of listening that define a CD as unmissable. The PTs have decent technique and plenty of imagination. But they also have melody and evocative power. It’s not youthful music, but it’s music that tries to endure the passage of time, just like the Pink Floyd did back in the day, of whom they are (were) natural offspring.

Porcupine Tree a teenage band?!?!? I respect other people's opinions, but I believe Saputello is from Zelig. Please, Saputello, point out to me the Porcupine Tree album specifically made for 15-year-olds. Please give me the names. Thinking that today’s 15-year-olds adore Finley, I conclude that PT are for 15-year-olds. And of course, because they are just the same. "For refined palates" could mean that PT are not exactly music for 15-year-olds (which you imply, unconsciously, when you claim that bands you don’t like are for 15-year-olds… if you don’t mind, I disagree with this prejudice). Now let’s do an experiment. Let’s play Metanoia by Porcupine Tree to a sample of 15-year-olds and see how long they last!
Marco Parente Neve Ridens
Voto:
Excellent album. The lyrics are very complex, not because a form of easy consumption is sought (like pitting one text against another), but rather a psychedelic writing style. In any case, the same Parente explains his writings on his website (something I didn't like because everyone should be able to listen without being indoctrinated). Is the notebook sold out? I don't believe so. Parente has a mind in motion even in this CD. Italian music? Well, if by Italian music you mean what gets played on the radio, then it's just a mere rotting coffin. But if you only looked a little better, you could discover some good and top-quality stuff. Give a listen to Nosound, to Stefano Panunzi and so on. You might uncover incredible melodies that aren't easy to digest yet are immensely fascinating.

The good Parente evokes visceral feelings because his work is more than music; it's a visceral experience. For this reason, I understand the tone chosen by the de-reviewer to leave a margin of intellectual suspension in the text. But, alas, the risk is that the complete work of Parente may not be fully understood. It was, in my opinion, essential to say that this is only the second CD of a double work. In other words, the complete work consists of 2 discs that bear the same exact name, but with different covers and different songs. This is a serious flaw in the review. I own the first part, but I have difficulty obtaining the one you reviewed. I haven't reviewed the disc because it's clear that reviewing only this is merely a part of the whole of Parente's work. So be careful, remember that this is only side B of neve ridens (a record I love, by the way). Hello and sorry for the intrusion.

If you like this album, you should also check out Hex by Bark Psychosis. They’re all on the same wavelength. PS: Mariaelena, were you able to get your hands on Stefano Panunzi’s album? If you don’t care, just know that you’re missing out on a masterpiece to listen to with your soul.

A fun and catchy album, it retains a certain personality in its best tracks. I don’t know K, but it’s clear that in his genre he’s not bad at all. I repeat, very entertaining and pleasant. I will get K. Oh, by the way, it seems there’s a reunion of Kula Shaker and the album is almost ready. It’s called The Revenge of the King. Let’s hope for those carefree Indian-flavored melodies that made them famous, albeit briefly.

Hi Dante, I can't tell you much about it. It seems to me that I read somewhere that it was a sort of reworking of the old pieces... but I might be telling you something really silly... :)

Hi Zion, regarding your last comment, try listening to the very Tuscan Comfort with the album "Eclipse." Truly an interesting debut. :)

..."the Finley are groups that are raising the disgustingly bad Italian music"...(Dile).
Sorry Dile, if you're talking about disgustingly bad Italian music it means you know very well the productions in this field. If that were the case, you would know that the phrase I've highlighted is an atrocious nonsense. Now...I ask you...what do you mean by disgustingly bad Italian music and which groups do you compare the Finley to? Maybe you don't know that there are really serious people in Italy. Have you ever heard of Nosound, Stereokimono, Comfort, Juri Camisasca, IV Luna, A Piedi Nudi, Giardini di Mirò, Klimt 1918, Conqueror, Randone, Stefano Panunzi, Ginevra Di Marco, Finisterre, La Maschera di Cera, Aeries, La Zona, Fabio Zuffanti, Anatrofobia, Estra, Giulio Casale, and so on? Here, then, try starting with these groups to listen to our Italic sound...then maybe we can say that Italian music is disgustingly bad!
